A hidden glorious beauty of a side alley London pub. This is a very discreet, secret to find & keep. Behind an unmarked door, is a heritage diamond of decorative cut glass adorned walls under a highly decorated plaster ceiling, set of an equally decorated coving over the beautiful cut glass panels. Large chandeliers used to hang here & now small flower head droplet wall lamps set a low light for the quiet, relaxing, calm, music less mood. This is a serious, heritage bar with gloriously mosaic tiled floor to an original carved wood panelled open natural fireplace. A clock aimlessly hangs above the fireplace but it doesn't matter what time it is when you rest in here on comfortable, padded, studded leather perimeter bench seating or plain wood stools. The understated quality of a full Samuel Smiths draught range light up the marble bar top of the central U bar in this narrow, intimate room. This is a piece of discreet, elegant, beautiful bar history.

Still open, despite rumours of closure. And it will stay open according to the lass behind the bar. A gorgeous pub. No real ale though and basic Taddy lager at a very high price (£5.20). Gone are the days when Sam Smith served beer at affordable prices apparently…

Lovely, cosy pub, fire lit and with games to play. Massive fan, amazing find, will be back to this hidden gem!

I've been returning here for many years and seek it out on every London visit. Convenient and yet just ticked away to avoid the crowds this is a brilliant gem of a pub. With character and quiet atmosphere this is a classic pub with up north values. As a Sam's Smith pub, you're not going to find the broad selection of common beverages, instead a crafted selection of their finest, including sessional brews. This make for a plesent change to the norm and a chance to try something different. The bar staff are always happy to chat and it's a local for all. Try the alpine lager for a low alcohol, big flavor beer that's good for a refreshing second pint. On cold days, the harth brings a warmth and sense of old London. Visit and enjoy one of the best pubs...

After travelling from the US I was looking for a great pub to have a drink and a small lunch. Tucked away off the busy Fleet Street the Crown and Sugarloaf hit the spot. This is the kind of pub that makes you feel instantly at home and begs you to stay for as long as you can.

Ceri was an excellent host and super friendly. My friend and I had the fabulous cheese toastie and pint for £10.95 which in this day and age is an absolute bargain. I can not recommend this pub enough. Next time I am visiting I will definitely make this...
