Had a lunch set menu here with a work friend.

We had an excellent experience, Riaz - our waiter was prompt with service suggesting some popadoms whilst we wait.

Drinks were prompt, and when my friend was unsure what to order, Riaz made a suggestion as to something he might like which was chicken Bhuna.

The lunch set menu covers two starters, two main dishes and an option of either naan or rice.

Between us we had a chicken tikka, sheek kebab starters, with a chicken bhuna and chicken tikka masala mains, with naans. The food was excellent.

Personally I prefer more chicken and less sauce but accept that this reflects the lunch deal and ls probably a more sensible for a lunchtime option so would definitely say get the two course. Even then I would say the serving size was acceptable but in no way generous.

We also had a couple of bottles of coke and not the depressingly small ones too, so that was good.

Finished off with a couple of hot wipes and a mint each. We spent about 40minutes from entering the door to settling the bill, so service was prompt perfect for a working lunch.

The atmosphere was good for a working lunch, not too loud, but not dead, so very pleasant. Staff were respectful and well dressed.

Came to just over £40 with service charge. Which I think is an excellent price to pay considering the quality of service and quality of food.

I will definitely be returning some time in the future and would...

Let's just start by saying this restaurant is NOT Indian, let alone authentic Indian. Not by a country mile. This is yet another case of a Bangladeshi/Bengali restaurant masquerading as an 'Indian' restaurant. It frustrates me because this really sets the bar low and unsuspecting customers believe that they are having Indian food. They are not.

I visited as part of a group of 15 (work dinner) and we were left bitterly disappointed.

Food was not Indian, but Bangladeshi. Added colour, cream and sugar in every dish. Terrible. Butter Chicken was absolutely hideous. So bad that one of my colleagues refused to eat it and was left hungry. Table setting was ridiculous and just too cramped. It made the seating experience very uncomfortable and a real challenge to use the facilities. For God's sake, space out the tables a little bit so your customers can be comfortable, in lieu of cramming in as many as possible to increase the customer count. Portion sizes are miniscule. You get double the rice in a microwave pack bought from the supermarket. I ordered Nawabi Chicken and it was served on a bed of "lettuce". What in the world is that about? Absolute waste of lettuce. Show me a Nawabi Chicken anywhere else in the world, especially in India, that is served on a bed of wilted lettuce. Disgraceful.

Service was okay but that nowhere near makes up for the shambles that was our overall experience. Would not recommend,...

During a recent visit to the City of London, I discovered what I believe to be the pinnacle of Indian cuisine: the Lamb Rogan Josh at Indian city in st pauls/black friars near fleet street. This vibrant restaurant has a reputation for bringing the flavors of Bombay to the UK, and it did not disappoint.

The Lamb Rogan Josh was a masterpiece. The tender, slow-cooked lamb practically melted in my mouth, while the deep, aromatic sauce struck a perfect balance between rich spices and subtle sweetness. The blend of Kashmiri chilies, cardamom, and garlic gave it a complex yet approachable flavor profile, making each bite more enticing than the last.

Paired with indian city freshly baked garlic naan, which was delightfully soft with a crispy edge, and their perfectly fluffy basmati rice, this dish became a symphony of flavors and textures. The meal was elevated by the restaurant’s nostalgic ambiance, inspired by the Irani cafés of old Bombay, and their exceptional service.

Though indian city has a diverse menu, including standout vegetarian options like the Paneer Tikka, the Lamb Rogan Josh was undoubtedly the highlight for me. It's the kind of curry that makes you savor every moment, leaving a lasting impression long after the meal is over.

If you're in the City of London and looking for an unforgettable Indian curry, this should be at the top of your list. Just be prepared to queue—it’s popular for all the...
