Christmas day lunch disaster and not even a Christmas cracker in sight - after cancelling our original reservation, 2 weeks before Christmas, saying that they had decided not to host any lunches on the 25th December. The Burdock restaurant sent me another email message a few days after, saying it was all back on. I really wish that I hadn't bothered rebooking with them! We arrived at the Burdock at 3pm on the 25th December to a bit of chaos and what seemed to be an uneasy atmosphere. However, we were shown to our table, which was just not practical for 5 people and another section was added. There was a large group (quite loud) and a couple of other tables being served. The staff seemed to be on high alert, not really pleasent, which put us on edge. We noticed that some serving staff were dressed in joggers and hoodies. It wasn't quite what we were expecting. As we sat, we overheard some customers complaining about the food being cold and the length of time to be served. However, we were in no rush and waited for our pre-ordered food to arrive. Eventually our food arrived, which unfortunately was under whelming to say the least. All 3 courses served were bearley warm at best and some items not properly cooked. We had to send several plates back. At the end of the meal when we offered our opinion, when asked, the response from what we belive to be the manager was..."what are you complaining about now". We were polite at all times but this team of staff were clearly ruffled. We heard other customers complain too. Tentions started to rise with another customer, then a group of 6-7 staff who grouped together near our table started to get agitated with some customers staying at the hotel. We witnessed some customers and staff swear and we thought someting may explode, so we asked for ths bill and made a prompt exit. We have never had an experience like this in a restuarant. We were offered a discount but to be honest, it didn't make up for the inconvenience and dreadful experience - clearly no planning, preparation and poor event management. Thanks but no thanks #burdock... this was just not...
Read moreI had high hopes for Burdock in Shoreditch, but unfortunately, our experience was nothing short of disappointing. The service was shockingly poorâdespite the place being nearly empty, the staff seemed completely uninterested. We had to collect our own food from the kitchen stand, which felt more like a canteen than a restaurant.
To make matters worse, the chef was apparently too âbusyâ to cook anything other than scrambled eggs, even though the restaurant was nearly empty. We also ordered drinks, but they didnât arrive until after we had finished eating. On top of that, the guy serving us didnât even bring out cutlery, so we had to eat with our hands.
We had to order our drinks twice because the server assumed we didnât want to pay for themâstrange logic. Overall, a frustrating and disappointing visit. Wouldnât...
Read moreUnfortunately this won't be a good review. We went to Burdock on a team dinner. We arrived there around 6pm and pre ordered the food already. The place is great, with urban style decor which I like. The shuffle board is super fun, however the food is poorly done. We had to wait a lot between starters and main dishes and once we received the main dishes people had to wait 30 minutes to get theirs. I understand we were 20 people, so probably not easy to manage, but we were also the only people at the restaurant.
If I could, I would give 5 stars to the waiter that served us! Raul was exceptional, but this didn't save the situation!
Ps. If you are vegan it is even worst! My collegue ordered the cauliflower dish and just look at...
