Let me start by saying that the staff are very pleasant but there are things about the place that are annnoyiing. I had the 'Full English' with tea. It came with double egg, sausage, bacon, mushrooms, tomato, beans and toast. I had requested the eggs to be cooked 'soft' as I like to dip my sausage.I think chef tested the softness by cutting into them prior to serving. That was a moot point anyway as the sausage was simply too tough to eat. It was pretty solid at both ends and I had to slice through layers of skin (multiple cookings?) and scrape out as much of the 'meat' as possible. The bacon was probably very finely sliced parma ham at some point in it's life but it had lived that life and was now facing burial after cremation. Mushrooms were very finely sliced and also overcooked. There was absolutely nothing wrong with the tomato, beans or toast. To add to the misery, the door was open and the cigarette smoke was billowing in from the outside. This was made worse when I found out the main offender was probably the owner. All in all, not a very pleasant experience and only achieved three stars by virtue of the pleasantness...

I even asked them twice for my food and only after the second time they realised the chef had forgotten to make it. Clearly they need a better ticketing system in this cafe if the chef forgets to make food. I can see from previous reviews that it's not the first time this has happened. After I finally received my food (eggs royale- just bread, egg and hollandaise, no nice presentation), I asked if I can get a free drink considering they forgot and I waited so long. I was just given a bottle of water and the waitress didn't seem too happy to give it for free either. They should have offered a free drink themselves considering they messed up, that's...

I came in looking for a Macchiato and the barista just grunted at me, assumed she meant ok. She proceeded to take out the portafilter dump the previously extracted coffee beans but not bother cleaning it. She merely grinded some beans on top of the wet extracted grind from before.
She proceed to pour the shot and then went to make the frothed milk by putting more fresh milk to an existing steamed milk jug and re-steam it again.
She then handed me the macchiato with another grunt.
Coffee was ok for 2£ in paddington but always clean your equipment...
