I’ve always enjoyed the small cakes and pastries here, so I ordered a Raspberry & Lychee cake for my husband’s birthday — we’ve had a small cake before. Unfortunately, this time the experience was disappointing. The cake was topped with an unexpected layer of raspberry jelly instead of the usual cream shown online. I was told this was due to raspberry season and the shop preferred using more seasonal fruit, (there was no mention of this when ordering online, which was frustrating)but it made the cake extremely tart. The lychee flavour was missing, and the sponge layers were thinner than before. All our guests found it overly sour, which affected the celebration. When I gave feedback, I was informed that “our customers love the sourness,” but it really didn’t work for us — and my stomach still aches from how sour it was. A re-order discount was offered, but sadly, I won’t be ordering again.

I was graduating diet class so what better way to mark the occasion than to bring fancy French pasties to a class dedicated to losing weight. A special occasion, I chose Cakes and Layers as I have been aching to try them after my friend Nicky travelled all the way from Elephant and Castle to try the place out. The cromuffins are a mix of croissant and muffin with textures and flavours of both. The quiches were well done and had that authentic burned look, the pain au raisins was sticky and moiat and the choux dough balls covered in huge specks of sugar were light, fluffy and sweet. I am glad I live over 30 minutes walk away from this joint or else I would be getting pastries from this place every day when I gave Gail's and Paul Thomas bakeries on my door step.

As this Patisserie/ Cafe was only opened 10 days ago by a pupil of my Driving School, who recently passed her driving test, decided on the spur of the moment to pop in yesterday with my wife and pay it a visit. All I can say is WOW! Thu Ha and her partner, Clement have done an outstanding job to create a top notch outlet for their French baking skills. We had a delicious mushroom, garlic and cheddar mini quiche and a sublime hazelnut and caramel croissant washed down with lovely smoothe coffee, seated in a small dining area separated from the counter by a glass wall. Please do take the very short walk (150 metres?) down Blackwall Lane from Trafalgar Road, I guarantee that you will not regret it!

A Hidden Gem in Greenwich for Pastry Lovers!

I recently discovered this awesome local bakery, and I can honestly say it's become my new go-to spot for a sweet treat. The croissants are absolutely divine—perfectly flaky on the outside, buttery and soft on the inside. Whether you're a fan of the classic plain or something more indulgent like almond or chocolate, they’ve mastered the art of French pastry.

The cakes are equally impressive. Each slice tastes homemade, but with a touch of elegance you'd expect from a high-end patisserie. Rich, moist, and beautifully decorated, they strike the perfect balance between flavor and presentation.

On top of the amazing pastries, the staff is friendly and welcoming, and the whole place has a cozy, inviting vibe. Whether you’re grabbing a quick coffee and croissant or ordering a special cake for an occasion, this bakery never disappoints.

Highly recommended for anyone who appreciates quality baked goods made with care and...

The best pastry in London ! Cakes & Layers Bakery, Greenwich

Cakes & Layers in Greenwich is a delightful spot that masters both indulgent cakes and buttery, flaky croissants. Their cakes are beautifully layered with moist sponges and rich fillings, striking the perfect balance of flavor and texture. Whether you’re after a classic chocolate cake or a more adventurous flavor combination, every bite feels like pure decadence.

The croissants, on the other hand, are equally impressive—golden, crisp, and perfectly airy inside. They’re made with evident skill and high-quality ingredients, offering that irresistible buttery richness that sets them apart.

Whether you’re celebrating a special occasion with a showstopping cake or just stopping by for a fresh croissant and coffee, Cakes & Layers is a must-visit in Greenwich. It’s a bakery that truly delivers on quality...
