Awful Management. Rude and conceited. AVOID. We booked this restaurant in advance for 6.30-8.30. Yes they give you a particular time slot. I had heard mainly good things so we decided to give it a go as its so local to us. They sat us at a table for 2 which was cramped and squashed against the wall near the front windows and door. Barely room for my husband to get in his seat and his chair was touching the chair behind him. We asked if we could be moved to one of the other 3 or 4 empty tables for 2 to which were point blank told no as these were all reserved. We commented that we were not asked if we wanted to reserve a particular table when we booked and she said no they are reserved for certain times and they cannot swap anyone around as they have 6.30-8.30 and 7-9 and 8.30-10.30 bookings for different amounts of people and it would mess it all up and wouldn't work. I am assuming this was the 2 owners that we were speaking to who were completely unaccommodating and not interested at all in keeping the customer happy. They were both rude and conceited and refused to move us and just left us at this table with menus. The prices are quite high for a restaurant on a bend of the busy Fencepiece Road/Tomswood Hill junction, which we were aware of and didn't mind as we thought it would be nice to go somewhere different for a change. The attitude of the management put us off instantly and we really didn't want stay so we found somewhere else to go and left without ordering any food or drink. As we were leaving the guy who seated us opened the door for us to leave and said "goodbye and don't ever come back"!! To which we replied, extremely shocked, that their attitude is appalling and you should never treat your customers the way you are treating us and that we have never been spoken to in such an appalling disrespectful manner by restaurant staff! He was literally closing the door on us. The manageress/owner didn't even look our way and was completely not interested. I said she needs to get some peoples skills training! We have never encountered such rudeness from restaurant management before. I see from a few other reviews that they have experienced the same treatment. They will not last long if they treat their customers this way. Just awful treatment and cramped seating arrangements even if you do go there to eat. ...
Read moreArrived for Father's Day dinner mid afternoon at this recently opened Portuguese restaurant.. We were advised that as it was a busy day, we had a maximum sitting of 2 hours. Having been advised, we weren't too surprised that we had a small wait until our table was ready. We could sit at the bar and decide what we wanted from the menu. It also gave us a chance to see the huge collection of gins on offer, including Big Boss from Portugal. From our seat we could see the open kitchen and the hard work that goes on therein. They had no problem letting us know if any of the dishes were not suitable for my son who has dairy and nut allergies. In the end everything we chose was suitable for him. In all, we tried the octopus, pork, clams, mussels. They were all tender and fleshy and of extremely good quality complemented by the traditional flavours of the Portugal. Punched potatoes are something I have never seen before, and I'm sure I will see this catch on as a future trend. It's a whole pierced into the potato with a sprig of rosemary poked inside and then baked allowing the flavour to permeate throughout. Desert was more of a problem for my son with a dairy allergy, but he was happy with the lemon sorbet served in a frozen lemon. My coconut and mango desert was a little hard to explain, but I'll give it a go. It's a little like a creme caramel in that it's set, but the white firm base is a set coconut cream with a more lighter mango top. Lovely and light. My daughter had the chocolate cake which I expected to be stodgy as most are, but it was remarkably light while being moist. Delicious. The team at Capricho all worked well together and being both friendly and efficient despite it being so hectic. We thoroughly enjoyed every element of our visit and will...
Read moreI called yesterday around 7:30 and booked a table for 8:30 but unfortunately we were 20 minutes late and we did not called to let them know ( my fault and I apologized , I also knew that the last orders were at 9pm and we got there at 8:45). When we arrived the owner was telling the waitress to tell us we had to go straight to mains and that we should of called, I thought to myself that that was a little bad to tell a client but I understand how annoying clients that are late can be ( worked in a restaurant before) but I do think that you need to treat all the clients the same and even if the kitchen closes at 9pm we were still there before. The carne de porco alentejana was average ( normally has pickled in it?) but then again , it depends witch part of portugal... I had baba de camelo for desert, baba de camelo has a brownish color and tastes like caramel, that one tasted just like condensed milk, wich means that it wasn't boiled for long enough. The waitress was up and down, almost alone the whole hour we were there serving a total of 6 tables desert, giving menus, cleaning tables etc etc...we had to call her to order drinks, food and to ask for desert menus but then again, this is not her fault, she needed help. Overall Its a nice place, I work locally and recommended this place to a lot of people and we will go back, we just would like a better service, we felt that we...
