I went here for a quiet place to work in the afternoon before going to a show at the Apollo.

Walking in, the place was warm and cosy and I was immediately greeted with a smile by both of the baristas.

The tea was presented beautifully in a walled glass pot and a cute cup.

The decor was really welcoming, it almost felt like walking into someone’s home. There were framed pictures and plants placed around.

The toilet is outside, under a sheltered area in the terrace out back, which I think is quite genius. Nobody enjoys sitting next to the toilet!

It was raining so I didn’t get to spend time on the terrace, but I’m sure it would be lovely on a warm summers day. It’s completely private, not overlooked at all.

At the end of the day when they were getting ready to close, I was about to leave when the barista offered me my pick of pastries (as many as I’d like for free!). I chose the pain au raisin and the almond croissant, both were incredible.

Overall absolutely love this cafe, I wish I lived closer so I could go more often! Next time i’m in the area I’ll...

I was very excited to visit here, but was unfortunately let down :(

I ordered a flat white, the guy at the front wasn’t friendly at all. I went to the bathroom came back, and my coffee was in a takeaway cup. I asked whether this was the default (as it’s not sustainable to do so) and the same guy was sassy in his response saying I didn’t ask for a to stay cup—typically staff should ask and not assume? I had set my stuff down on a table so thought it seemed clear. My feedback would be to always ask and assume for here so you’re not creating unnecessary waste!

He offered free pastries to guests shortly after me if they ordered coffee, something not offered to me. Not sure why he was so unfriendly toward me…..? It was really uncomfortable, and I felt uncalled for.

The coffee itself, was okay! The milk was steamed properly, but maybe because I got the decaf, it was quite sour. Additional Ā£0.75 charge for decaf feels high considering it wasn’t very good

Overall nice ambiance, spaces, and coffee was decent which is why I didn’t...

I am going to amend this review as much has happened since this was posted.

In the original review I had an experience that made me feel that I was profiled and treated differently because I was different to the other customers (in the original review I referred to myself being non-white compared to the other customers).

The shop owners reached out to me after I left my review. They explained the situation and assured me that it wasn't the case, indeed I was the victim of poor service based on a busy period and not because there was racism at play.

I cannot unfeel or unhave my experience. But I hope the owners, managers and staff of the establishment can try and mitigate the risk of this again. It really impacts you. I was not trying to be malicious by using the language I used, but try to communicate the pain and feeling of being discriminated against. Again, the owners have assured me this wasn't the case and outlined their first hand assessment of the situation, which I respect...

I had the New Yorker to take away. It came on what seemed a rustic soda bread, filled with pastrami style beef, Swiss cheese, sauerkraut, pickles, American style mustard and mayo. It was baked/cooked to perfection, a 10/10 sandwich. When I first entered, I wasn't initially acknowledged and thought that was maybe because I was in my work clothes. They were just focused on serving the current customer which is fair enough. It wasn't mad busy but once I got to the till, the people working were attentive, polite and proffesional. The shop itself has a chilled vibe, simple in design but pleasant an welcoming plus spacious seating arrangements inside and out. They only take card payments, so bring a card to avoid disappointment. I'd DEFINITELY return here when I'm close..
