A Sunday treat for us at The Curtains Up in Barons Court tonight! Celebrating St. Patrick's Day with dinner out and we were not disappointed with our meal and beers here. I had the plant burger which was spot on. It came with a portion of tasty fries and was more than enough. She had the Cyder battered Haddock with chunky chips, excellent tartar sauce, small portion of mushy peas and a portion of a really tasty curry sauce! Again it was really good and she couldn't finish it! I did try to help! We had Camden Hells lager and Bevertown Neckoil! Both as good as you expect. The atmosphere in the pub was noisy with the big match on but was still enjoyable. After the match we enjoyed the first quarter of a well supported Quiz night. They have a small theatre in the basement with regular shows(hence the name of the pub). They also have the best decorated ladies loo in any pub we have visited, I've been told!🥴 Overall the staff were great, as was the service and food!👍

Nice enjoyable time here before watching the Cinch tennis tournament. Really fabulous decor, fabulous toilets and nice food and drink. Had the scallops to start, but forgive me, I made a terrible mistake and between the Irish girl in me and my bad eyesight, I mistook the bed of salt the scallop shells were lying on to be a bed of mash potatoes.. so the scallops were very salty and it took me copious amounts of Chablis and high intensity googling of whether high levels of sodium can kill you … to recover enough to have my main course of plaice - nice enough although skin soft and fish warm rather than hot. The only saving grace here was the desert of Eaton mess and sickly toffee which were nice enough. To be fair I had a wonderful time aided by good company and not as good food. But don’t be shy and give it a try.. I particularly also wish to mention the wonderful toilets which I was quite taken with as pictured below.

A gastropub on the street corner which is usually busy on most evenings with a good atmosphere inside and also outdoor seating. It is quite upscale as expected in the area and also quite expensive with mains at about £12-20 and dessert for £6-7. All of the food is consistently well-made though with generous starter and mains portions. The menu is typical fare - sausages, foie gras/pate, burgers, sticky toffee pudding, etc. We especially liked the chips with cheese and truffle oil. The pub also has a theatre underground (the clue is in the name!) and I would definitely recommend going to it - we saw a comic Victorian detective play in this cellar which must be the smallest theatre in London!

Have always enjoyed coming here for the vibe and most of the staff is suer helpful. Unfortunately today I've had some strange experience as I sat down at a table around 4pm and was told it's booked at 7 which I was totally fine with. After ordering my drink I then was told that they've swapped the booking so I can only stay until 6:30pm, which I appreciated as it's a busy venue, though I did think it was weird the way they swapped their bookings which meant I needed to leave 30 minutes earlier.

Then around 6:15pm the manager came to tell me I needed to go now as the next customer has arrived.

By then I still had most of my second glass of wine to finish so I reminded him I was told by him that the table is available until 18:30. He told me that yes but his customer arrived early so that's why he needed the table early, and he said it's not like he's asking me to leave 30 minutes earlier but only 12 minutes. He also asked me, shall I ask my other customer to wait for you?

At the end it's not about the 12 minutes or 30 minutes but about what keeping the promises as well as the way you deliver your messages. It's about whether your customers feel welcomed at your venue. The way you've changed my table time twice makes it feel like you don't want me to say and it's utterly...

Such bad service and rude staff two days in a row. Day 1, standing at the bar waiting to get served for around 20 minutes to get surved, the bar staff looking over seeing in there and then serve every new person that came to the bar. One barman acknowledged me then served his friend that just walked to the bar. Day 2, again waiting at the bar been seen by staff but the barman only seemed to want to serve the women at the bar even when he served one next to me then another that came after right next to me. Once I finally got served I ordered a Guinness, Camden hells and a patron the Guinness and hells was poured I was told that someone was getting the patron he then went on to serve someone else and after went and got the bottle. He didn't ask what patron I wanted and just assumed it was cafe patron, that I didn't really want although he did give me two shots for waiting so long but that that doesn't really excuse the service. The manager needs to do some serious training with their staff not just with how to work on a bar but also how to pull a pint of Guinness. Which should not be started or finished with the glass sat on the drip tray, then leave it to settle for 5 seconds before topping it up until it goes over the edge...

Been here a few times this week to meet up with friends. At least one terrible and I mean terrible arrogant bar man. He was not rushed and overworked so no excuse for his response. I asked 'what beers do you have'? His response was non plussed confusion. My friend said 'BEER' after some pigeon English 'What are you talking about' remarks. He then pointed to one of the lagers. I answered ,No not Lager, beer please. He eventually got it and corrected me in a sarcastic and dismissive way saying 'Oh you mean ALE. , Well maybe I said but we call it beer. He sniggered and shook his head. I was offered a fizzy Camden 'Ale' which was pretty boring. Heres the second bit, even more annoying. I was in here again last night but this time at the other side of the bar and there behold were a row of fine cask beers with pumps and so on. Then as if above wasn't enough my friend asked for a brandy and ginger. He was given a half pint glass , which had a whole bottle of ginger poured in and then topped up with a single brandy. You need to be careful who you employ. Other pubs...
