The waiters were not friendly at all, they had no personality and weren't keen on assisting us. Getting drinks and ordering was fine but it took 40 minutes to get our starters, a salad, paté and bread selection. Unless they were making the bread from scratch I don't know why it took so long to come. We only got our starters because we had to ask where our food was. We even heard another table complaining about the wait for their food. We didn't get offered more drinks even though we were sitting there with empty glasses. They eventually brought our mains over but they hadn't taken any of our starter plates away so there was no where for them to put the food on our table. The paté was nice but the rest of the food was average which was disappointing considering their price point and Marriott affiliation. The restaurant was less than half full but for some reason the waitress thought her time was better spent clearing empty tables and straightening chairs than taking away our empty starter plates, seeing if we wanted more drinks and clearing away empty glasses and bottles from our table. If it had been busy I can understand prioritising clearing an empty table and preparing it for the next customers but as I say, it was less than half full. Read moreOrdered two drinks at the bar, wasn't expecting to be handed a reciept with a £3.50 service charge on it, after all I took the drinks back to our table myself!!
Attempted to order some food, was handed the menu but he never returned to take our order, eventhough the restaurant was empty bar three other tables.

Who does that, surely you keep the food warm in kitchen until the customer comes to the table. Very poorly trained staff member, either he just didnt care or had no common sense.
Our visit was a big let down, and to top it all off my expensive glass of wine wasnt even probably...

The main entrance was up a small flight of 3 stairs; easy to lift up a push chair, but would be a problem for a wheelchair. There might be an accessible entrance, but we didn't check.
Although on a high street, it wasn't noisy. Pleasantly free of background 'music', too!
All the staff were very helpful, and very friendly throughout our meal, without being intrusive at all.
The menu choices were excellent, with plenty of gluten free versions, and a reasonable selection of dairy free options.
The food arrived quickly after ordering, and the portions were generous. All the food we had was very tasty, and certainly worth the (perhaps?) slightly higher than average price.
We enjoyed eating there, and would certainly be happy...
