I had seen a lot of people in the city wandering around with their bags, all looking happy with their lunch choices. Many times I had wandered around lunch time, like a lioness on the Serengeti trying to find the perfect place for lunch. A few times I had considered this place but there was usually a line and my prowling time was short.
The other day I finally wandered on in and was tempted by the spicy sausage pasta thing. I was excited. The pot was as big as my head! However, upon opening it what had seemed like a culinary adventure fell flat as a dodo. Masses of pasta, very little sausage and the blandest red sauce I had ever tasted. Even back in my student days when people used to try and make this sort of thing with tomato sauce it came out better. I felt robbed! I have only been there once but at £6 a pot for what is essentially masses of white pasta with a squirt of red sauce and a tease of under cooked sausage... I shall not be tricked again!
However, I must say... the girl behind the counter was a delight. When she took my order she genuinely seemed to care that I had a good lunch. She looked in me in the eye and wished me a good lunch and I am sad to say that that wish did...
Read moreI ordered a meal from Coco di Mama through Too Good To Go and clearly stated on my profile that I am vegetarian and have severe allergies to meat and fish. Despite this, the staff insisted on giving me non-vegetarian food. I politely explained my allergy multiple times, but the manager kept saying “we will give you non-veg food as well” — completely ignoring my concerns.
This is unacceptable and dangerous. Allergies are not a personal preference — they are a serious health matter. The way I was treated was dismissive and unprofessional. If Too Good To Go’s system doesn’t pass along allergy information correctly, that’s a major issue, but the restaurant should still listen to customers when they raise a concern in person.
Discounted food doesn’t mean customers deserve careless or disrespectful service. Very disappointed with Coco di Mama and Too Good To Go in...
Read moreNew fast Italian place, quite small think they're mostly going for the lunch takeaway market as there is not much seating. 2 choices of pasta (fusili or penne) plus a choice of about 4 sauces (e.g. bolognese, pesto, carbonara, pomododro). My midi bolognese came as a very small tub of pasta, I have quite a small appetite and even I wasn't full after it. Also the bolognese wasn't very sauce-y so it was a clump of mince on top of naked pasta and it was difficult combining the two as the pasta had clagged together. Really I would recommend just frying an onion, some garlic and mince together and adding a jar of passata/can of chopped tomatoes at home. It will be just as, if not more tasty, than Coco di Mama and more importantly you will be able to serve yourself a...
