Poppins Cafe is tucked away in Poppins Court the City of London EC4. Poppins Court lies just off Fleet Street EC4 - nearest to the junction of Ludgate Circus/ Ludgate Hill/ Farringdon Street. A delightful little cafe with a modern appearance inside and out. Clean and very well organised by friendly efficient staff and always happy to serve! I personally thank the owner for his very kind hospitality by taking three photos of my wife and I in the cafe! A big thumbs 👍 up for photo memories. The breakfast lunch was 'SUPERB! The food very tasty, generous in size and one I would never forget for such a hearty meal to last the day. A good choice variation on the menu. I personally recommend folks to try the 'New York Chicken 🍔 burger buns - hot chocolate and ☕ Coffee Cappuccino drinks went down a treat! My wife and I arrived here at around 1115am, it was very busy with mostly London workers and other visitors providing a real lively atmosphere. We will certainly return to Poppins Cafe in the future - already a favourite in my reckoning. Just one thing to note here, there are no toilets in the cafe? That aside, perfect! All the very best to the owner and staff, thanks for a great time here - happy days! Chris 👍

I feel you can always tell from the outside if a greasy spoon type of establishment is worth entering by the amount of workmen eating inside Therefore it was without hesitation that I entered Poppins earlier this week, as it was brimming with people in orange or fluorescent colored clothing. There is a huge variety on the menu with option of add-ons, and this is not limited to just cooked breakfasts. We were seated and served quickly, but at no point felt hurried. Poppins was a wonderful find on a miserable wet morning.

I went there with two friends and we all got different breakfasts. First of the all the staff is extremely kind and professional, answered our questions patiently and helped with our choices. Each item on the plate was fresh and well cooked. They even replaced an item I don’t like. The place is quiet and though there are lots of customers coming and going, nothing got delayed, there was no confusion etc. Also there are plugs in case you need. Recommended.

Poppins Café.

City café fined for poor hygiene and mice problems

Both the owner and operating company of Poppins Café were fined a combined total of £19,815 and ordered to pay costs of £3,408 after pleading guilty last week to six Food Safety offences in the City of London Magistrates’ Court.

The case was taken after City of London Corporation Environmental Health Officers visited the café near Ludgate Circus in September 2011 following a routine hygiene inspection the week before.

Their investigations revealed that both an active mouse infestation and very poor hygiene conditions remained with no satisfactory attempts made to improve or control either despite clear warnings to do so.

Magistrates commented that the conditions were physically disgusting and that the general public should not be paying to eat food prepared in such conditions.

Jon Averns, the City of London Corporation’s Port Health and Public Protection Director, said: “The law requires food business operators like Poppins London Ltd and the owner, Mr Erdogan, to be proactive in dealing with pest control problems. We expect City food businesses to operate hygienically, and it is not acceptable for businesses to shirk their responsibilities, particularly as London heads ever closer to the...

Situated in a little cut through alley, popins court, off fleet Street, ludgate circus end. Been there for years. Frequented by builders and office staff alike.

Price. . . A little dearer than a workman would like but more than reasonable to the city gent. Considering the location, fairly reasonable.

Food. . .often gone for a breakfast, nice and clean, well cooked, fair portion if fairly standard. (if a right tasty sausage was in the mix, might have got another star)

Had the bolonaise. And to be honest was more than disappointed.

Had the shepherds pie and 3 veg, I'll be having that again.

Heard from a colleague the kebab and salads are pretty tasty.

Service. . . Quick friendly and efficient. She did whip my plate away a bit sharpish as I finished but I managed to slip it out of her grasp, and mop up with my bread and butter with no complaint. One waitress covering all tables well.

Eat,Pret,Starbucks all nearby but if you fancy a sit down. A cup of tea. A bit of egg an bacon.

It's...
