Well, the Kensington creperie, an unusual place, it was in the evening and me and lady hipster had just wandered in off the street, we had been searching for sustenance that was both light and different enough from our usual fare that we would find room perhaps for a dessert and alcoholic beverage. As was usually the case, I was the hungrier of the two. Now bearing this in mind, in hindsight a creperie is not the ideal place to go if you are looking for a hearty meal, you are after all going to be served what is essentially a pancake with the assorted toppings of your choice, so if you are fine with this, fill your boots mate. I ordered the beef meatballs with cheese, and hipster honey ordered the banana split. We both had coffees, because we wanted liqueur later and it was late and I was knackered, but I digress. The service was fairly prompt, we didn't have to wait long to be served, the coffee arrived and it was ok, nothing amazing, I'm not a massive coffee fan so I am the wrong person to judge a venue on theirs. The pancakes when they arrived were "light" in both toppings and substance, which was fine for a quick snack, but they were not priced as such, so be aware you are paying Kensington prices here. The décor felt a little tired, especially considering the location but the staff were pleasant. The other diners seemed to be mainly curious tourists so I am guessing that would be the usual target customer. All in all a for a quick bite it was good, the pancakes were middling in flavour. And the toppings sparse, if I remember rightly, I had three rather small meatballs on mine, ( 1 inch in diameter) and they were cut in half. So in conclusion, the sauce was light, and for over a tenner, this seemed tight. But that's alright, I expected that on the night. So when I left my wallet was light. There may be some folks who might, find this to be not quite right.. Goodnight.
Ok the real conclusion, pricey for what it is, good service, looks a bit dated, but that may well have been the look they were going for, a sort of French cafe look. feels more aimed at tourists than Londoners. I don't hate it, but I can't recommend it. There are much better pancake places...

Service was appalling from beginning to the end. Waiters were less than welcoming and lacking of experience. My wife and I ordered a simple ham, cheese and tomatoes crepe and they managed to make it wrong. The dough was thick as like as the (whole) ham slices they filled it with. Salad tomatoes were used as filling and gave a bitter flavour to the crepe. The rocket salad as side was poor and did not have any dressing on top or served on side. The worst was that nobody came to us ensuring we were fine with the food or not (despite having put it on a side for more than 20 minutes). The place was almost empty and having 4 people on the floor, it is unacceptable to be ignored in that way. When it came to the bill a guy that we believed to be the supervisor or manager almost did not notice we left the whole food uneaten and we had to mention to him. He appeared to be almost offended by the feedback instead of being sorry for us to be totally disappointed. Coming back from the till he mentioned he removed 10% off from the bill (not even the whole service charge that was 12.5%) which we found totally inappropriate considering we did not eat at all. At this point we found useless to speak further, considering the total lack of customer service, so we paid and left. Also the changes of the interiors are in our opinion not great. The bar has been shortened leaving all the waste bins exposed. The room is dull and lacking of atmosphere. We hope this feedback will be taken on board and the place will be brought back to...
Read moreThis used to be a little corner of France in London, same as Bute Street with its quaint French shops, the lycée, La Bouchée restaurant and the French consulate. It was basic but authentic French creperie serving both savoury and sweet dishes. Yesterday's visit was the first after many years and we were told that the place was under new management. The menu still looks similar to what it used to be but ham as an ingredient has been replaced with "turkey ham". When we asked if normal ham could be used we were told that the place now was halal 🤔. Okay... we went ahead anyway and ordered crepes with smoked salmon and Mediterranean (spinach, mushroom, cheese and pesto) with some herbal teas. The dishes arrived promptly. The Mediterranean one was OK but not delicious - there was hardly any cheese in it and pesto flavour was overwhelming. Smoked salmon one was rancid and my friend picked around the corners a bit before leaving most of it on a plate. One can easily get far better crepes from any basic French crepe stall and for half the price. The teas were OK but one was too strong (the house own concoction) and the fresh mint one was too weak. Not coming back any time soon. The only reason I give it 2* is because of the service which was...
