As I stepped in at 9:45, I asked about shabu shabu but I was told the kitchen closes at 10:30 despite their 11:30 closing time. I thought that 45 minutes to bring out some a pot of soup and some ingredients would be more than enough so that I could still enjoy an hour of dining but I was denied. So I chose to eat from their a la carte menu. I got the tonkotsu ramen and the broth was bland and bad. The portion size was tiny, the noodles were not good. The cha-shu had to be the worst part, it did not taste fresh and was very tough. I would highly recommend checking out any other proper ramen place in London rather than here. I also had the unagi bento. The unagi was actually good but that was about it. The rice was well cooked, it was stodgy and overcooked. The inside out roll was honestly less fresh than supermarket offerings. The rice was even worse than that under the unagi, really poorly seasoned and also very overcooked. The salmon was not fresh at all and tasted extremely fishy. They gave the smallest amount of wasabi and ginger. The cold beansprout side was mediocre. I also ordered the tori-kage and it was really dry, tough meat, not juicy or succulent like expected. It was overfried and extremely bland, it was terribly seasoned. When I asked for some kewpie mayonnaise or some dressing, they said it came at an extra cost. When the food tastes this bland, I find that criminal. Also recommend avoiding this dish, plenty of better karaage or other chicken offerings in London. All the staff except one waitress seemed very unenthusiastic about their job and were pretty unfriendly and looked bored, anxious for the day to end. To top off the end of the experience, I had misread the total of the receipt as the total at the top of the receipt which was just for food without the service charge and the total of food + the "discretionary" charge was at the bottom. As I left for the door I was immediately chased down saying that I had not paid enough and that I had not paid the full amount. I can admit that it was my mistake for misreading the total amount but I was also not expecting to be chased down and asked so rudely about not paying a "discretionary" service charge. I think it could have been addressed in a much politer of a tone and manner. The whole experience was very surprising as the other branches in Soho and Holborn have been nothing but fresh food, cooked well and reasonably priced with friendly staff. Typically the food has tasted quite authentic but I must say the most authentic Japanese experience you will find at this branch is their Japanese toilet. The food cannot compare to authentic cuisine unfortunately.

The best Japanese place to eat and based in Golders Green though Eat Tokyo has many central London locations Eat Tokyo has such a wide variety of Japanese food. The menu is so large its like flicking through an Argos catalogue. Sashimi Toro is excellent and if you can, order the sashimi boat. For those of you that do not know, Toro is the term for the fatty part of the tuna, found in the belly portion of the fish. Especially prized by sushi chefs. Pink to white in color with a rich, buttery taste... Devine :) I leave a 5 star review. But a very bad incident happened to me in October 2022. It's such a shame as the senior Mangeress is absolutely the most elegant, well spoken gentle person that the staff should emulate. This incident is provided for management of Eat tokyo: I called for an order, and asked the total of the bill. I then decided that I may want to add items to the order and said three times on the call that I would call back if I want to place the order. I didn't give my number or address. I then decided that I didnt want to drive to eat Tokyo so opted for Uber eats instead. I put the order through on the app. Shockingly, the same lady then called me back, not to thank me for my order but called me back and started harrasing me to say that I had no right to order through the app and that I should have called her back. I asked if she had put the order through from my phone call? Ofcourse I didnt she said. So why are you calling me? Just to argue with me. Again she said I should have called her back and not ordered through app and started arguing with me. I asked her name, and she said she didn't have to give me her name and she would not give me her name and hanged the phone up on me. I called back demanding her name and a man said "just cancel the order"... I am a customer and have not done anything wrong. I then found out her name was AKO that called me. BTW I can't cancel the order on Uber eats once I place it. This incident is provided for management of EAT Tokyo.

Eat Tokyo is probably one of London's best kept secrets. My family and I have been going to Eat Tokyo in Golders Green for as long as I remember. The menu is huge so you've got a such a large variety of things to try. Literally anything you can think of and it will probably be on the menu. Particular favourites of mine are the torikara (fried chicken), Alaskan roll (salmon, prawn & mayo inside out roll), and bento 1ban (salmon teriyaki, sashimi & tempura). There are so many bento boxes to choose from, but also rice bowls (inc curry), noodles (udon, soba, ramen & fried), and a la carte items. You won't go hungry at Eat Tokyo. Eat Tokyo also has branches elsewhere in London but I find that the one in Golders Green has the largest menu and is also slightly cheaper. The quality is also always very high, I've never had a bad experience here, and I've visited many times. It can get very busy especially at peak times because it's not very big inside, so I'd recommend booking a table or if walking in then coming when they just open. Or visiting their sister restaurant around the corner, G2 Shabu Shabu which offers a slightly limited a la carte menu + hot pot. I don't think I'll ever not come to Eat Tokyo, it's a firm favourite of mine and my family's.

Absolutely shocking and disghusting behaviour by the staff and especially the manager Pauline. I went there today at 17:30 with my 1.5 year son and my husband to have dinner. I was not even greeted by the member of staff she just noded her head and i asked for a table for three. She asked where is the third person and i explained that he is just parking the car ( my husband). I was then asked if i have a reservation and i said no and then she just noded again. All this conversation was done from a distance of 3 m she did not even greet or talk to me. I proceeded to sit at the table she threw a menu on and then she said it s 1.5 hour limit for the table. I was confused and i asked if this was a new policy she scoffed at me, gave me a disrespectful look and left. Pauline the manager came but she was even worse. I asked if the 1.5 h limit is a new policy as i have been a regular at the soho branch for years. She said this is only for this store and when i asked to see where is it written she replied ‘ nowhere, i m the manager and i say so’. This is revolting and unacceptable behaviour to a customer. When i told her that they don t want my money so i m leaving she replied ‘yes put it somewhere else’. I felt unwelcome from the first second and the whole incident was disgusting. Before we had our baby me and my husband were regulars on a weekly basis at the soho branch for years, most of the staff knew us and everyone was polite. We decided to visit the golders green branch because we had our son with us and was easier to drive from our home. However we ended up spending 1.5 hours driving to and from the restaurant, returned home with an extremely cranky and hungry toddler and had our afternoon destroyed by the staff of this restaurant. And all this at 17:30 on a tuesday in an empty restaurant( only one table...
