Unwelcoming to Solo Diners
I visited this bakery today, hoping to enjoy a nice breakfast, but was refused a table simply because I was alone. Despite two large tables being empty, I was told I couldn’t sit there because they were reserved for groups of four. When I questioned this, I was informed that if a group of four arrived, I would have to leave.
I understand that larger groups generate more revenue, but excluding solo diners in this way is unfair and unwelcoming. I’ve never been turned away from a café just for dining alone—this policy is disappointing and unacceptable.
[ Reply to Owner] No, your version of events misrepresents what actually happened.
At no point was I told I could stay at the table temporarily or move to a smaller one later. I was told I could not sit down, and to leave in case a group of four showed up. That made it very clear I was not welcome.
I fully understand the need to prioritise larger groups during busy times and would have had no issue moving to another table or even sharing mine if needed. But that option was never offered — I was simply turned away.
What I found upsetting wasn’t the policy itself, but the way it was enforced — with no flexibility or basic courtesy. It’s disappointing to see your response try to frame this as a misunderstanding rather than acknowledge what...
Read moreJust re-discovered Fablers when visiting with friends this weekend. As Camden locals, we have been here quite often in the past. I have to say that even if prices have changed & food options are still the same, they definitely topped up their plates to justify charging slightly more. The food is delicious and you can ask for various options, ask for specific dietary needs etc. All dishes get freshly cooked/ prepared in their kitchen & boy they deliver fast! Food is always fresh especially fruits and smoothies. Staff is super friendly and went the extra mile this morning to serve us without a reservation. Also on a side note, they probably serve the best espresso in the street! We cannot recommend this place enough! Just be aware that there is limited seating space in and outside, maybe reserve upfront to avoid disappointment. Definitely worth the wait if you visit spontaneously and bring some time! Definitely a must-check out when visiting Camden Town, I recommend this place for breakfast, however they have very good Schnitzel if you fancy something different!
additional information: You can also buy freshly baked goods for take-away or just stop for a cup of...
Read moreVisited this spot in Camden after seeing some really good reviews. On first impression, it’s a lovely place; quaint, with a charming countryside vibe that I really liked.
The food, however, was just okay. Not bad, not great; simply average. Our pancakes arrived lukewarm, almost bordering on cold, which took away from the freshness. This was odd because we were the only ones in the restaurant at the time, and the rest of the dishes came out hot.
The real deal-breaker came mid-meal when a rat ran through the restaurant. The staff’s reaction made it even more noticeable, with everyone coming out to try and track where it went. My friend and I immediately stopped eating, paid up, and left. It was honestly disgusting and completely killed the experience.
Overall verdict: The place itself isn’t bad, but anywhere with rats running around is an immediate no from me. You’re not missing out if you skip it — especially since the famous Lumi is right next door (which we should’ve gone...
