Really Really wish we had read the previous reviews first! Went last night for a friends 50th bday. Eight in the group, all mature and accustomed to eating out regularly all over London. Pre-booked table.
Hot Humid night Had to ask for water several times after we sat, when the water came had to ask for glasses. Waited for ages for everything. The mojito jug was badly made had to "fix" it ourselves. One bottle of wine was plonked on table. Not opened not offered to taste and no wine glass!!! Had to ask for wine glass had to ask for a ice bucket to chill wine! Food: D-I-S-A-S-T-E-R!!! No fish was on the menu not even the prawns! The menu incidentally, was totally different to the one online! So limited we tried to order. The Server suggested platter and that TWO platters with side sweet potato fries would be enough. We trusted her on the quantity of the platters.
It was not enough for us. Even though one person had ordered separate lamb chops, rice and salad, it was not enough!! The rice was hard, old and frankly dangerous!! Rice has a nasty way of poisoning you if it is not fresh! It was not touched. All the chips were stone cold! We had to repeatedly ask for dressing for the salads. We had to ask for crockery and cutlery which was just dumped on the table for us to distribute amongst ourselves!! We asked for the chips to be replaces with hot ones - they obliged. We were so hungry after waiting such a long time that we ate. But we were all shocked at the poor service and poor standard of food. We even had to ask for the dirty crockery to be removed. No one checked on us, no one asked if the food was okay. No one gave proper standard service.
At the end we asked for the manager and explained how shockingly bad the service and food was. He never apologised only offered us another jug of mojito which was not wanted as we were not major drinkers. He appeared unable to believe nor accept that there was anything wrong, until we actually said we were not prepared to pay for the food only the alcohol. The manager absolutely refused to comp the meal. An argument ensued in which we invited him to call the Police! After some considerable time and very grudgingly on his part, did he finally offer us mutually agreed reduction. When the bill came it still had several errors including a beer which no one in our party had ordered!! I cant say that there was ever an apology given.
None of us can recommend this venue for a meal. Maybe for drinks and dancing. Watch your final bill, check it throughly. And whats with the stuffed parrot?
Do not eat in this place!...
Read moreLast night, I found myself at this Latin-themed bar that felt like a fever dream I still can’t shake. You know those places where you just sit there wondering if you’ve accidentally wandered onto a set for the strangest reality show? That was this place, except it was very, very real.
First off, let me tell you about the patrons. Bizarre doesn’t even begin to describe it. I saw a guy who casually pulled out a roll-on deodorant and licked it. Not just a little taste either—full-on licked it off his girlfriend’s armpit like it was a gourmet treat. And the girlfriend? Totally unfazed, like it was part of their regular Saturday night routine. If there’s a weirder way to bond, I’d like to not know it.
Then, there was this old man, maybe in his 70s, who danced with all the energy of a newborn baby deer learning to walk. His legs were bending and wobbling in ways that seemed almost supernatural, and yet, he had the time of his life. I gotta give it to him, though—his enthusiasm was contagious. I almost wanted to join in, though I doubted I could replicate his… technique.
Meanwhile, two girls were beefing hard over a dude who seemed completely oblivious to the drama unfolding around him. The guy was just chilling with his mojito, enjoying his night, while these two locked in a silent war of glares and whispered insults that cut through the music. Things were heating up when, out of nowhere, one of the girls stormed off—only to immediately take a tumble down the stairs. It wasn’t just a little stumble, either. She went full-on somersaulting down the steps, limbs flailing like she was trying out for a circus act. The whole bar gasped, but in true wild-night fashion, she popped up like nothing happened, shook it off, and went right back to glaring at her rival. Honestly, if that doesn’t scream dedication, I don’t know what does.
And then there was the music. It was classic Latin dance vibes for most of the night, until the DJ dropped the most random track of all time: a baile funk remix of “Panda” by Desiigner. At first, I was thinking, “This is a crime against music,” but then it hit me—it actually slapped. The beat was unnecessary in the best possible way, and by the end of the night, everyone was losing it on the dance floor like it was the anthem they didn’t know they needed.
All in all, it was one of the weirdest, yet oddly unforgettable nights I’ve had. If you’re into chaotic vibes, questionable life choices, and unexpectedly good remixes, this place is the spot. Just maybe leave your roll-on...
Read moreHere's a place born for mixed reviews! mine how ever sits in the middle I think!! First of all the name is from the little town south of Sao Paulo in Brazil, Florianópolis my friend was in awe with that place, hence the reason why we ended up here in the first place.
At first glance this is a great show tunes place and that's exactly what they do, they put on a show together with some great tunes. Amazingly high ceiling with a all awkward looking decorations. No one can miss the life size fake palm tree in the middle of the room. If it wasn't for the new techies (including myself :) of course) You'd think you travelled back in time. The whole atmosphere is something between east London and 1920's (at least I would like to think so).
Go there if you enjoy great tunes, especially live ones. No one knows whom you may discover there. From what I have heard from my friend is that, they are great for fusion of jazz-alike live music.
And that's about where my journey of happiness ended. It's probably because I was really expecting mouth watering Brazilian dishes and cocktails to knock me off the table..none of which happened, unfortunately ;). The wine list was abysmal, come on guys!! you can get great cheap wines from Lidl nowadays . just add a bit more selection please. The cocktails on the other hand.. hmmm..I wasn't sure if I was drinking Ice water, that spent some time in another glass of alcohol, or if my drink at least had any(alco). Either way they were disappointing for the price they charge.
But the starters were great, I would recon I would definitely go back to try Brazil's East London Floripa in my own Tapas style and sit on the long table drink not so cheap wine, start chatting total a stranger and enjoy the South of the border Fusion Jazz or 80's pop.. this would definitely make it a 5 star experience.
As a Restaurant however it is not..book a table and ask for the long table and don't be shy.. oh!! did I mention the slow service..after all this is about enjoying the time out, ..
For me it was the high ceiling that did...
