This lovely, tucked-away boutique vegan and vegetarian restaurant has a chilled, low-key vibe that I really enjoyed. As a vegan, I was excited to visit, and I brought along my meat-eating friend who was trying a ‘no meat’ restaurant for the first time. They opted for the Forest Floor Calamari to start, followed by the Fruit of a Banana Leaf for their main, and finished with the Cheesecake Treatment for dessert. They were absolutely delighted with all three dishes and said they'd happily have them again.
As someone who's plant-based and has tried all sorts of global cuisines, I tend to be a bit more critical when it comes to flavours and textures. I started with the Faux Gras, which I understand is a popular choice here. Unfortunately, it didn't quite hit the mark for me in flavour. However, the Fillets of Trumpet Royale for my main course won me over again! The Madagascan Green Peppercorn Sauce was a delight. My only slight niggle was that the mushrooms were a tad chewy—I would have loved them to be seared for that extra touch (personal preference). Dessert was an absolute dream, which is something I rarely get to enjoy when dining out as I’m both plant-based and gluten-free (I know, the joys!). The Peruvian Chocolate Porcelain with Salted Caramel and Vanilla Ice Cream was exactly what I needed. I also tried my friend’s Cheesecake Treatment, and as much as I adored my dessert, theirs truly stole the show—I’m craving another one already!
We both noticed how light and satisfied we felt after our meal—none of that usual heavy, ready-for-a-nap feeling. It's fantastic that they don't use any soy or fake meat replacements; this is how good food should make you feel.
5 stars to the staff who were —attentive, friendly, and an absolute joy to interact with. We were seated at the back, so we missed the action from the live kitchen in the centre of the restaurant, but hopefully, next time I’ll get to experience that too. All in all, I’m looking forward to my next visit—hopefully, it’ll be five...
Read moreTook my wife and cousins out to celebrate my wife's birthday. She has a lot of intolerances (gf, soya, lactose) and also vegetarian. I phoned in and the lady who answered was helpful answering my questions. I then booked. I'm not familiar with this kind of menu so the staff explained the dishes and pretty much chose my food lol. The restaurant was able to flex some the dishes to cater for the lactose intolerance. Alot of gf choices and all dishes soya free. The quality of ingredients is amazing. The vegetables taste like how they probably should taste. My elders always say how veg these days doesn't taste like how they did in the 50s-60s. I think from eating here I know now what they are talking about. All ingredients were organic and sourced it looks like under tight scruitny from the owners. The gf cheese cake which isn't made out of cheese (made from a superfruit I think) was unbelievable. Service was great. Prices are high in that more a special occasion type place. However considering the quality of ingredients and freshness of the food, you are getting decent value. Normally I eat fast but at this place I ate slowly and actually chewed the food properly as each mouthful was a hit of subtle yet intense flavour and often each mouthful revealed something new. Bill came to £60 each including a drink, plus sharing starters, main each and desert. I think that is good considering the location, quality and ingredients. If I go to say my local restaurant and eat a meal and drink I'll easily pay £35-£40 (without dessert). In central London easy to to rack up up £70+ and eat some rubbish. So overall was happy. Thank you also to the restaurant for the mini surprise desert for my...
Read moreHad been reading a lot about this place. Finally tried it this week. Ambience 3/5 - much more casual looking than I expected but nothing odd or wrong. Food 3.5or4/5 - (nothing bad at all but just had even higher expectations) Oliviera's faux gras dish was alright, the pickled cauli to go with it was a very nice addition. The bread was too charred for my liking. the avocado tempura (Sea buckthorn caviar) with caviars was not special. The caviars was a clever thing. The avocado and rest of the things were missable. the other tempura dish (forest floor calamari) which is one of their signature dishes was my fav. The chilli and pickled lemon was a great great touch. for mains we got the trumpet royale mushroom dish. Good flavours!! But it lacked some finesse in presentation. I think it might also be because of it being a long weekend here in London and one of the chefs was away so Kitchen was understaffed. for dessert, we got the cupuacu cheesecake which we did not like. Just not my thing but it was made well for those who've got more developed taste buds. We actually asked them if it could be replaced for us and they got us the Healthy Decadence chocolate dessert instead which was very nice. It seemed like we would not be charged for the replacement but they actually charged us for both the desserts which is fine/fair but would have appreciated them being upfront about it beforehand. Also, would have been a nice service gesture to have not been charged for both if they said they would 'replace' it. really good red wine 'When we dance' sangiovese nice beers on tap!!
Service was great otherwise, with lots of details being explained to us...
