Read moreMy husband and I really drew the short straw here. Arriving, the restaurant was quiet, 2/3 tables with one waiter and two chefs. We weren’t seated, and a group who arrived after us were seated and served before us.
Our drinks order arrived incorrectly with half of it missing, then only one pizza arrived, with no sign of the starter or second pizza. The waiter did not tell us what was going on, and when we asked, we didn’t get a straight answer, but surmised the order hadn’t been put through. Once the first pizza (fairly underwhelming for £12.50) was completely finished, over an hour after arrival, the second arrived. We never saw the starter we ordered, it was clearly completely forgotten. Perplexing as we were one of 2 tables waiting for food ‘eating in’.
On another note; for a restaurant that prides itself on pizza and beer, there’s no non-alcohol beer on the menu which in 2021 is a bit sad.
Hardly the local, enjoyable date night we expected....
Read moreI have tried this chain twice, and I wasn't impressed. At the E&C branch, I have tried the vegan and non-vegan Margherita pizza and the marshmallow ice-cream, washed down with some lager beer. The pizzas bases were all right but the tomato sauce way too acidic, spoiling the dish. The vegan alternative was OK but unremarkable, but spoiled by the same tomato paste they used. The ice cream portion was small and the "marshmallow" not a flavour but a tablespoon of the cheapest miniature confectionery. The ambience was "post-industrial" anodyne with, thankfully, not overbearing music. The service was polite but inefficient, with the tables way too small and so sticky, it was needed to ask (unsuccessfully) for a waiter to try and wipe it out. The toilets not too clean, either. Not the worst but certainly there are better...
