Franco Manca has always been a to-go-to place for pizza cravings around London, and we had exactly that on Sunday 15th Aug after visiting V&A next door. The restaurant was nowhere near full, but we were pointed to a mini table near the kitchen and given a judgemental look when suggesting a 4-seater (many of which were available). We are both 6ft tall and leg space is always appreciated, but of course we would move if larger parties were to come in afterwards. Noone expects a 5* service (just a delicious pizza served with a smile, thank you!), but interactions with the staff were rather unpleasant - it felt like the place was run by teenage girls with no supervision or customer service training. The order arrived quickly, but no-one checked on us throughout dinner and eye contact attempts were proficiently ignored. We ran out of water and could not order anything else as the waitress simply brushed by the table collecting empty glasses/bottle without asking if refill is needed. The bill arrived incorrect and instead of explaining the error proactively, the girl waited for it to be questioned - again, no customer service skills whatsoever (where a simple sincere apology would have done the trick). We paid and left without placing any complaints as this would have been simply pointless and would make the experience even more bitter. All in all - although hospitality is going through a rough time - please train your staff better, service is still about quality not quantity and smile itself doesn't cost a penny. Hats off to the...
Read moreHorrible experience since they do not care about their customers as seating outside is always packed. We booked a table using their awful app, we were waiting in a virtual queue for 1h+, arrived for a table on time and we were refused to be served. A waiter didn't bother to make any effort to accommodate us nor was interested in having more customers. He not only told us off but also was trying to challenge us and completely ruined our evening. We were waiting for our PRECIOUS TABLE (considering circumstances these days how hard is to plan an evening out) and we were just simply refused meaning "just go home or where you came from as I can't be arsed to serve you nor make more money for the restaurant but I will let other people to sit for 2 hours with empty glasses and will make no efforts to keep everyone happy". Coming from the hospitality industry background and knowing everything about the customer service I am just truly saddened how restaurants do not care about their customers anymore. Plus if you are a good host, you will always find a table for your customers 😊 Shame on you, I'm the biggest fan of Franco Manca but never ever again in South Kensington. Please retrain your staff, they should be good not only in serving pizzas but also communicating with the customers and upselling your...
Read moreWe booked a table and were sat right next to the host station in the most inconvenient table. Took over 20 minutes for someone to take our order even though there was about 3/4 waiters/waitresses. Ordered two sets of olives and were given a total of 4 olives with too much taralli. When we asked the waiter why we got so little his response was the manager says it’s right. No actual effort from the manager to come and check on us or anything about the situation. Then we waited another 30 minutes for our pizza, again ignored by everyone. When we finally did get the pizza from the manager we got the response ‘I’m sorry that’s how the olives come’ and no apology for how long we waited for the pizza. It took so long we nearly missed our museum booking. We have come here before and had the same exact awful service but assumed that it was just a one time thing. This has most definitely proved it is not, we were avid fans of Franco Manco before even having the loyalty stamps. But now due to this experience it has put us off all Franco Manco’s. This experience happened in November and as someone who works in hospitality it still bothers me to this day. The only saving grace was how good the food was, but the service made it leave a...
