Byron - South Kensington — Restaurant in London

Have ordered from here 50 times over the last tear as we live nearby, and also eaten there once a few months ago. But not any more. A week ago, it changed its menu, changed the meat patties it uses (removing a choice between well done and rare), and - boy - did it cut back on portion sizes of extras! I used to order 4 chicken tenders for c. £6 I think, and all for were a decent size. Last night it was £4.50 for 2 chicken tenders (we orderedd 2 of these, so 4 tenders in total) - and these were WAY smaller! One was 4.1cm long and 2.2cm wide - seriously! The others were around half the size and width of previously. The price for them went up also, so we paid £9 for 4 tenders which weighed maybe 80g if that in total.

Although we always like the good, the menu change will stop us ordering for 2 reasons. Firstly, when I was told over the phone that "We changed our meat so that we cook them well done but they remain juicy and moist", well that shrieks in the direction of frozen patties to me :) Secondly, cutting portion sizes by 50% for the tenders, and putting the price for them up as well, as just taking the p**s.

So we'll not order from them again, and will use Gourmet Burger, which 100% has meat patties made from cuts, and not processed or (being kind here) "chilled" under Byron's new menu.

Very disappointing, used to order frequently because we liked non-frozen patties, decent portions, fast delivery - but we both said last night that what it offers now in terms of patties is sl different that we'll never order from it again. Great shame.

For those wanting to walk in, maybe ask them to show you an uncooked pattie... but either way, walk next door to Gourmet Burger and give that a try, as we now...

Below par,below average Honestly I have tried so many different American burger chains from Shake Shack to Five Guys,Srigista Bros to Proper burgers, The Meat Liquor to Ritto's, Band of burgers both in Camden and Walthamstow,Mak grills, and many more.Lots of them are just about average. I am a purist and tryst when it comes to exploring the most delectable of food outlets.Foodie and gourmand in a sense. I only tried Byron's after reading a handful of reviews over last few days to find out which one was the most coveted one. I have to say I am disappointed in the end having tried beef burgers.Very ordinary taste and nothing special at all.If this is what you call American burgers then I am afraid people have lost sense of taste and selection aforewith. Placid and banal taste. Only thing half decent was burger wrapping for which I gave 1 star. Chips were okay but I have had better than them, say in band of burgers for instance. Cheese burger had no taste in beef patty. Needed to be succulent with more tasty sauces and condiments and better spices in beef patty. Green chilli with fries was very tasteless and I only went for it after reading someone's stupid review about it.I would recommend him to try Green Chilli from Meat Liquor in Queensway then, which is much better than over here. Honestly guys I am disappointed thoroughly.30 plus for tasteless meal is not a good deal. I hope they can add more taste in beef rather than just a bland tasteless meat. Try adding caramel onions in it and more tasty sauces. I asked for crispy onion inside and they charged for me but were missing probably hence no taste at all. What more can they do? I have been a loyal customer of the South Kensington branch for the past two years, visiting at least once a month to enjoy the great food and friendly staff. However, my recent experience has left me feeling disappointed and frustrated.

During my most recent visit, I was shocked to be told by the manager that I could not place an order unless I used a QR code. I expressed my reluctance to share my email through the QR code, but the manager insisted that this was the only way to proceed due to a new policy at the restaurant.

While I appreciate the need for businesses to adapt and introduce new technologies, I believe that customers should be informed about such changes in advance. It would have been more considerate to display this new policy on the shopfront, allowing patrons to make an informed decision before entering the restaurant.

Being told that I could not order without using the QR code left me feeling uncomfortable and inconvenienced. This lack of transparency and choice is, in my opinion, completely unacceptable.

Despite this negative experience, I must acknowledge that the food at this restaurant is consistently great, and the staff have always been friendly and welcoming. However, I hope that the management will reconsider their approach to implementing new policies in the future to ensure a more customer-friendly experience for all patrons.

Overall, while the food and staff continue to impress, the recent introduction of the QR code ordering policy has significantly detracted from my overall enjoyment of dining at the South...
