I had the worst experience in Gail’s Vauxhall today. It was 5:30pm so 1 hour before closing. I came in with my 8 year old nephew after playing football in the park. We purchased some drinks and some chocolate brownies. The lady who served us was in a bit of a mood already but I put this down to having a long day.
We had to wash our hands and I assumed that although half the seating area had been sectioned off due to closing time, that we as patrons, could still use the toilet. We didn’t use the toilet, just washed our hands so I kept the door open because we were both int here at the same time. We didn’t even dry our hands not wanting to make too much noise in such a quiet place (lots of people on their laptops) the hand dryer went off accidentally which meant the lady who served us heard us using the toilet. I didn’t think anything of it, until 5 minutes later when she walked to the toilet doors and passively aggressively slapped a piece of paper on both doors that said “Out of Order” and looked at me when she walked back to the tills.
I immediately did not want to sit there any longer. We left after 10 minutes even though we spent over £13 for three items.
The other two ladies were very friendly. The one who made my drink was lovely and the second lady smiled at me when she walked by. And the chocolate brownies were something new for my nephew. He took my half bitten brownie back after realising how good they were!

Read moreGAIL’s is a cafe chain that has locations all around London. This review will cover our experience at the South Lambeth location. This review does not reflect every GAIL’s location.
Ok, we’ve visited here over 5 times now, the food is of excellent quality. Plenty of options, good pastries, variety, a few cool ideas & quality bread.
On most of our visits the service has been “ok”. The staff behind the tills are great, when it comes to any issues, so far they have been disappointing.
On one of our occasions we had an issue with our food, basically they got it slightly wrong, a member of staff was at our table, told us they will sort it out. After about 15 minutes we got the idea no one was coming to sort anything out. So we had to go to the till, at this point they were quite helpful, but I feel could have been better. Anyway long story short, after about 5 minutes of messing around we came to the conclusion they had charged us £9.50 too much & got confused with what we ordered, they issued a refund for the amount & we got our food.
It’s worth noting they were incredibly busy during this time, all seating was full & there was a perpetual queue. However, I don’t think this is an excuse as there are plenty of other food locations that I know would have dealt with this much better, and have done.
Please don’t let this take away from GAIL’s as a whole though, the food is fantastic, and that’s what...
Read moreThis charming local cafe has become my go-to spot when I'm in London, and for good reason. The food is absolutely DELICIOUS and of super high quality. Every dish is prepared with care and bursts with flavour, and the cleanliness of the cafe is impeccable, making each visit a delightful experience.
Their coffee is lovely, always brewed to perfection and served with a smile. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, creating the perfect setting for a relaxing meal or a catch-up with friends.
However, the BEST part of this cafe is undoubtedly the AMAZING staff!! They are wonderful, amazing, super friendly, and always go above and beyond to make you feel welcome
