OK first of all this is a cheap Chinese cafe-type establishment which has been around many years. I have had takeaways from here about 5 times in the last ten year and they have all been ok... the space looks relatively clean (this is Deptford after all), but often has boxes and oddments piled in corners and on shelves, which is not really what you want from a food place. The food is cooked in mostly full-view, which is a plus.
My rule of thumb in Deptford is: I either want to see it cooked in full view, or the place needs a 4 or 5 Scores On the Door Lewisham sticker on the door... otherwise, basically, don't go in. And believe me, I have seen some of Deptford's kitchens and you really do not want to go there :)
I ordered Good Friend Special Rice Noodle (Vermicellli) for £5.50. The staff were relaxed and friendly - I got it home, and... it was what you would expect. Large portion, cooked ok, quality ok - but you can do a lot better for similar food e.g. M and D Japanese Restaurant around the corner, which is also slightly cheaper. Nothing special here, but still seems to have a...
Read moreIt's not the best I've had, as far as a buffet goes it's not so much a buffet. You're only allowed up once to fill your plate and the staff do it for you. Drinks are not included in the price. We went as a group of three and one of the members in our group complained to the staff her food was really cold and not so fresh. The staff were really rude and defensive, shouting at us but they did change the food and it was definitely much different to the one we were served. They also spoke in their own language after we made the complaint and were obviously talking about us as they kept looking over and shaking their head. Overall, not bad. Staff were really extremely rude, even on our way out. We were really uncomfortable actually. Food was OK. Not the best but not the worst. I wouldn't call it a...
Read moreFirst time I tried this place, and incredibly happy with the service and food quality. Prices were great, and the staff were super friendly. The noodles were a generous portion, the squid tasted clean and not over cooked and the crispy beef was perfect. These places are disappearing in London, it's great to see a cheap and cheerful place. So many of these places are going up market and charging more and not delivering the same quality food, they put swanky furniture and lights inside and then increase the prices. Really good to find a place that has kept it down to earth with nothing fancy but good...
