Very Disappointed Tooting market has a good choice of different international food vendors to choose from, we as a family picked Green Choy to try for the first time on Sat 27th in the evening based on the initial look of the food being served.
The restaurant is small with seating upstairs above the kitchen below, after the waitress led us upstairs to our table for 4, we were advised to order by the QR code on side of table on a stand, this was not ideal as all 4 of us needed to share one mobile to choose what we wanted to order, a menu would have been alot better, but none offered by waitress.
So we placed our order as below
Positives Food presentation looks great
Negatives ●Waited over 35 mins for food to be served and then only served 3 out of the 4 dishes ordered, the steamed Bao Buns took another 10 mins to arrive. ● The Black Pepper lamb ribs were terrible, no lamb on them ALL fat !, requested this to be refunded ●All the dishes were spoilt on flavour by a strong pickle taste that put us off
Real shame as on first impressions we were really looking forward to trying this place out, and on leaving regretted our choice.
We have eaten at many other Korean food restaurants and I can tell you none overpower their food with a strong pickle flavour in all the dishes.
Unfortunately based on the above would not return...
Read moreDinner here with my 3 teens. 2x Beef Ribs with rice, 1x meal (beef bao bun and ordered chicken noodle soup), 2x Beef bao bun + chicken/mozzarella corndog.
Beef ribs were thoroughly enjoyed by the lad (though his jokes were inappropriate), bowl left clean. My ribs were tasty, however a little gristly/fatty (sauce was still very tasty). Bao buns were very good (but a bit small) they tasted amazing. The chicken/mozzarella corndog was great (according to my 12yr old) and a reasonable size too.
Tenn 3: Beef bao buns good. The chicken noodle soup was a beef noodle soup but it wasn't swapped as it was very tasty as well as an excellent sized portion. Our waiter did offer to swap and offered to add some chicken so the beef soup but it was fine as it was - nice of him to offer anyway!
We arrived at 6:45 pm to a quiet sitting, however by 7:15 the place was full and buzzing with fellow restauranteurs.
The music was a carribbean/island uptempo vibe at a good volume to enjoy but didn't have to shout over.
This is one of our favourite gems in Tooting Market. We've eaten here several times.
The service is always good, the staff friendly and we've left feeling replenished with some tasty and healthy food...
Read moreAs a foodie myself, I can testify to the amazing street markets across our city. Last night I fancied something different. A small sign outside the Korean offering enticed us (plus the set 2 course offer for £12) and so we ventured up the beautifully adorned staircase to Green Choy.
From Korean Corn Dogs to Kimchi and Bibimbap to Korean Fried Chicken (KFC) the menu did not fail to disappoint. Seeing as I am currently not drinking, the mocktails looked tasty alternative to your standard fizzy and juice options. The result... tasty, well presented and filling food. So much so we had a little doggy bag for lunch the next day.
Great service, a lovely cosy setting and simple ordering system (post Covid QR codes for ordering and service) A genuinely great find. Added bonus, a spinach burger and added kimchi which my daughter loved. Corn dogs were not quite my thing - very filling though but the Bibimbab was delightful. Definitely up for a repeat visit and testimony that London's food market scene is...
