I agree with all the reviews about the standard of food - all 4 of us enjoyed every single mouthful of our delicious food.
I can understand why most reviews rave on about the service, however we must've pulled the short straw with our waitress on Saturday night, who was not in the slightest bit interested in making conversation unless it was about our order, and seemed irritated by our polite and friendly small talk with her (I would rather skip the small talk too, but it's good manners). Her indifferent attitude was in stark contrast to the warm and friendly chap who greeted us on our arrival and showed us to our table - if only the service would've continued at that level.
I was a bit disappointed about a few things:
Firstly, I emailed in advance and requested a window, or quiet table, for 4 old friends to catch up - we were placed in the centre of the area at the back with the most tables! rather than tucked away in a corner. The table we had was positioned in such a way that the chair I sat on was half on one floor level and half on another floor level - a good 1- 2 inches difference, which clearly needed to be rectified, but on pointing it out to the waitress she was more concerned about the lack of space she would have to get around the table (after repositioning) than the fact that I was uncomfortably rocking on my chair due to a poorly positioned table. She didn't apologise once, and just went through the motions of moving the table so that I could get my entire chair on the same level as the table. Not my fault the table was poorly positioned ; but I was made to feel like it was.
Secondly, I also requested a drink to arrive at the table at the same time as the dessert, as a little surprise for my husband (birthday) - the confirmation email led me to believe that this was in order - but the drink didn't materialise, which was a bit disappointing. I would rather a communication to advise such requests weren't possible, rather than being led to believe it would be possible, resulting in quietly waiting in eager anticipation for the little surprise, which was not forthcoming, resulting in being quietly disappointed - I didn't mention it at the time because a) my husband was none the wiser, and I didn't want to spoil his enjoyment, and b) with the waitress we had, I really didn't think she would care two hoots, and didn't want to get even more disappointed with her indifference.
I felt the spoilers were the glum and unconcerned waitress, coupled with the disappointments.
Despite the disappointments, we all found the food to...

Menu: Greenberry cafe quickly became one of my favourite places to dine in London. I often go for brunch or lunch (they also do dinner service, but I've never been hence my review is based solely on their breakfast/lunch menu). They have great options for vegetarians and vegans (I'm an ovo-lacto vegetarian) on their menu - my personal favourite is there vegetarian egg dish (they use free-range eggs from Clarence Court) which includes two eggs (cooked to your preference), avocado, pan seared halloumi cheese, roasted tomatoes, portobello mushrooms, and sourdough. Their vegan roast cauliflower salad is AMAZING - highly recommend (great combination of flavours and use of texture from the pomegranate seeds). I also love their homemade beet latte (with almond milk) - fresh and tasty!
Ambiance: Overall ambiance of the place is not bad. The restaurant offers comfortable seating (including the bar because the place does get packed during popular hours) - there is also a small outdoor patio at the front of the restaurant. It's a great place to grab a bite alone or with friends and/or family (very family friendly with colouring books and toys for children).
Service: Excellent, attentive, knowledgable, and very friendly. I always have a good time...
Read moreLocal hotspot and great for those of you who love a celeb spot. The Greenberry is also dog friendly, so if you do have a (well behaved) furry friend they'll be welcome here. They are also baby friendly, so maybe if you're allergic to either (dogs or children) give this a miss.
The restaurant/cafe accepts reservations - which Id strongly suggest on a weekend as by 11am this place begins to quickly fill up with locals and families from the Primrose Hill set.
Having only eaten brunch here, I can't comment on the other offerings come lunch and dinner time but if the breakfast I had was anything to go by, it would be top notch.
For breakfast, the menu includes all the classics such as a full English, eggs any style, porridge, pancakes etc. All of which has ingredients freshly made on site. The 'dingley dell' sausages are top on my list of recommendations, as if the beans on toast with field mushrooms.
Only word of warning I could give is that the service can be very slow, so this is not the place to visit if you're in the mood for a quick meal. Not sure if it's down to lack of staff, but we did have to wait a good while for our meals to turn up and coffee was even slower to turn up.
Don't skip trying their incredible spiced pumpkin cake either,...
