This restaurant is based inside the nhow hotel in london. It's a quirky hotel and well worth a visit however our experience of the Guitly restaurant had a lot to be desired on our recent visit. We were down for a conference, so we weren't exactly out seeking fine dining and didn't want to go out as we were tired after travel. The restaurant seemed cool, it was well decorated with a nice atmosphere. It was quiet when we arrived.
The server who sat us was polite and courteous. However, he subsequently forgot to get our drinks, and after our starter had arrived, I had to remind him (it still wasn't very quick and we were thirsty)! He apologised, saying he had forgotten. There were only 3 tables to serve and the other 2 tables were already eating! There were 2 other servers as well, all seemingly busing themselves at an empty bar..
The starter was loaded nachos, which we shared - great, fresh, and tasty. Very nice.
Mains, I had a loaded burger, which was fine. It won't blow you away. But it was a good size and tasty enough.
My partner had a steak, which she asked for well done. When it arrived, we had to ask for a steak knife as the server hadn't brought one following an order of a steak. On cutting into it, it was unfortunately medium rare with some bloody juice, so this unfortunately put my partner off her food. They offered to re cook, and her side of truffle fries was returned as they would have gone cold anyway waiting for them to re cook..
On paying, i had yo ask for the fries to be removed from the bill as they were returned and the service charge. It was probably a bit optimistic at this point expecting a tip tbh.. he was polite enough again, but it just summed up completely switched off and inattentive service.
Also. While we were eating, other staff were wheeled black bags of waste through the restaurant... for clarity we had arrived for dinner a little after 8pm so it's not as though this was late and at a time when you might expect staff to be thinking about wrapping g things up for the night and even then, if you have paying customers you keep things going till the diners are done surely?!
Overall, this had the potential to be a simple but satisfying meal, but the poor service and an incorrectly cooked steak spoiled this. Also, at the price point (£28 for the steak without any sides) we would have expected it to be...

From a Big Ben rocket ship clock that actually tells the time to neon signs and the best part isn’t even this it’s the delicious food! However the hidden gem is the mac and cheese, not just a normal mac and cheese it has a hidden bolognese sauce h set the crispy cheese mac topping and it beautiful, amazing flavours and you can’t get enough of it! Then the desserts are also huge fabulous selection with a perfectly portioned apple crumble that’s exactly the treat you need to finish it all off. Food portions were good and everything was cooked well. Prices are in line with the rest of London. Service was great; our waiter Ifty was very attentive and friendly.
Live DJ was brilliant - played loads of old school R&B all night which made me want to get up and dance! Music is definitely aimed at a millennial crowd, which I was very happy about haha.
Very quirky decor, fits in with the old street/shoreditch area.
Would definitely eat here again and might consider staying in the...
