â 1 star Absolutely unacceptable customer service â deeply disrespectful experience
I visited Gudju Dhaba in Wembley with a friend. We ordered a Coke and were having a quiet chat at our table. While we hadnât ordered food, we were paying customers and not disturbing anyone. However, throughout our time, different waitresses repeatedly interrupted us asking if we wanted to order. It felt like we were being pushed to leave.
The last straw was when one waitress came over and rudely snapped at me for drinking water from a bottle, without touching my mouth to it...that had been used (and already at our table). She loudly said, âYou cannot drink water like that â we have to serve this to other customers,â as if I was doing something inappropriate or unethical. Her tone was aggressive and completely uncalled for.
I told her that you can enforce a policy without being rude, but she kept arguing. Then the manager came and told us, "This is not a café, you cannot sit here for long if you're not ordering food." Let me remind you: we had placed an order (for a Coke), and no time limit was mentioned when we arrived.
This is not just bad service â it's discrimination against customers who arenât ordering âenoughâ in their view. As per the Consumer Rights Act 2015 (UK), a business must provide services with reasonable care and skill, and that includes basic courtesy and non-discriminatory behavior.
You cannot treat paying guests like freeloaders just because they didnât meet your internal sales expectations. If you want to enforce a policy like minimum spend or time limits, you need to state it clearly, not ambush guests halfway through.
This kind of arrogant and disrespectful behavior is unacceptable in the hospitality industry. I will never return to this place, and I recommend others think twice before going somewhere that does not respect or value its customers.
UPDATE AFTER RESPONSE:
Your response is a classic example of deflection with zero accountability. You âregretâ my experience but fail to take ownership or even acknowledge the exact issues raised â rude staff, an aggressive waitress, and a manager who openly told paying customers to leave because "this is not a cafĂ©." Thatâs not regret â thatâs arrogance hiding behind PR-speak.
Youâre asking me to contact your management team, yet you donât even provide a phone number or email address. Frankly, itâs not my job as a paying guest to chase your management for basic respect and professionalism.
Let me remind you that under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 (UK), all service providers are required to:
Deliver services with reasonable care and skill (which includes politeness, non-discrimination, and professionalism).
Avoid unfair commercial practices under the Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008, including intimidation, pressure selling, and dismissive treatment of customers.
You do not get to mistreat guests, then sweep it under the rug with a copy-paste apology. Your staff shouted at me over a glass of water and your manager essentially accused us of loitering â despite us having ordered and paid. If there is a minimum spend or time limit policy, it must be clearly displayed, not enforced selectively based on some internal judgment of who looks profitable.
This is not hospitality â it's bullying under the guise of business.
Unless your management is ready to publicly acknowledge the unacceptable behavior, retrain your staff in basic etiquette, and make your policies transparent, this response only proves how unprofessional and disrespectful your...
Read moreâ 1 star This is a follow-up to the disgraceful experience already detailed in another review about Gujju Dhaba Wembley â and now Iâm even more disgusted by how theyâve responded.
After publicly humiliating a paying customer â by repeatedly pressuring them to order more, having a waitress snap at them for drinking water from a bottle already at the table, and a manager arrogantly saying âthis is not a cafĂ©â â their so-called response is a generic, copy-pasted PR apology that shows zero accountability.
âPlease contact management directlyâ â seriously? With no number, no email, no real apology, no ownership of what actually happened? What kind of unprofessional nonsense is that? Itâs not even damage control â itâs cowardice.
You donât get to treat guests like freeloaders, then hide behind vague statements. You had a chance to fix this and you chose arrogance over action.
For the record, this business has been reported to Citizens Advice and Trading Standards under the:
Consumer Rights Act 2015 â for failing to provide service with reasonable care and skill
Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008 â for aggressive, unfair practices and harassing paying customers
To anyone reading this: Avoid this place. Youâre not just risking bad food or slow service â youâre risking being shouted at, disrespected, and treated like an inconvenience if you donât spend enough in their eyes.
Unprofessional. Arrogant. Unapologetic. Youâve lost a customer â and many more after...
Read moreI recently visited Gujju Dhaba Express Restaurant at Wembley London and was pleasantly surprised with the quality of food and service. The restaurant offers a wide range of cuisines including Gujarati and Indian curries. The staff were courteous and helpful, making sure that my dining experience was top-notch.
I decided to try some of the popular dishes such as Pindi Chana masala, Dal Makhani, and their special Gujarati Bhel. Each dish had a unique flavor that was so succulent and delicious. The flavors were balanced well so that none of the dishes overpowered one another. The portion sizes were generous and very reasonably priced. I also ordered a glass of Mango Lassi to accompany the meal which was really refreshing and a perfect compliment.
What sets this restaurant apart from the other Indian eateries in town is that they focus on traditional Gujarati flavors and recipes. They have an array of options from street food of Gujarat, to gourmet restaurants. The presentation of the dishes is also top notch and speaks volumes about the attention to detail that the chefs have behind the scenes.
I thoroughly enjoyed my experience at Gujju Dhaba Express Restaurant and will definitely be returning soon. I was impressed by the hospitality of the staff, the wonderful presentation of the food, and the delicious flavors that the chefs created. If you are looking for a cozy and relaxed atmosphere to get a hearty Indian meal, look no further than Gujju Dhaba...
