IRO Sushi (Stoke Newington) — Restaurant in London

As a loyal customer, I have always found the food to be standard. I usually order for pick-up and appreciate that they kindly allow us to eat in, thanks to the lovely lady at the front who is very accommodating. However, on this occasion, my experience was different.

I had placed my pick-up order, and before I could say anything, the man at the front began yelling, "THEY ARE NOT SITTING IN." I was taken aback and felt quite uncomfortable. If an establishment prefers not to allow customers to sit in for pick-up orders, I completely understand and have no problem with that. However, to openly criticize and gossip about customers when they can clearly hear you is absolutely unacceptable.

If they had taken a moment to listen to my request (to have the sauce served separately), they would have realized there was no issue at all. Instead, my friend and I—two loyal customers—were made to feel unwelcome, and even after I stated we wouldn't be sitting in and had no intention to the man in glasses continued to discuss us.

Got shouted on the phone by the manager.

They got our takeaway order wrong, I asked for a refund and asked to still get the order delivered. Nice lady on the phone said she’d check with the manager and call me back. She called saying manager says it is either or, even though we are regulars. Asked her to see if there’s anything that can be done, and she says she’ll call again. They then issue a refund and leave me waiting for more than 10 minutes not knowing whether or not it would be delivered. I call to find out what’s happening and manager is really rude on the phone. This place surprised us. Food was very fresh and good quality. Our Chicken katsu curry was bang on and chicken stir fry was great. Suso boxes were perfect. It was just two of them in the shop upon collection and food is freshly made. Shop run by two people. Both very nice A lady that cooked and prepared thr food and gentleman who served me. There was a technical issue on website where we couldn’t get first order discount but they were very helpful and found a solution for me. Will be coming back for sure.
