I have been incredibly lucky to experience a Josh Carp dining experience twice. The first time I unexpectedly had to have my meal delivered to me due to self isolation. Josh sent my 5/6 course ls along with the menu breakdown, photos and how to warm (if needs be) to ensure that even at home I received the very best dining experience possible. And it was a showcase of mouthwatering gorgeousness! Every single taste excited you for the next and there was an almost sombre moment at the end of each course which was quickly overtaken by the excitement of the next dish. Each course was just exceptional and what a treat to have at home, equally I know I would have felt that same sense of joy in a restaurant. Josh provides top class 5* m dining wherever you may want it!
His squid ink sourdough, burnt butter and pork cracking is just, well, wow!! Those combinations together just explode and collide in your mouth and I could not get enough. In fact, had that been the only thing I ate that evening, I would still have been a very happy woman! Saying this, I was very grateful for the Venison shoulder with parsnip purée with red wine and chocolate sauce (I believe!) It melted in the mouth, so so beautifully cooked. Read moreWe were really lucky to have Josh cook one of his autumnal tasting menus for us, and alongside the ease and fun of the whole experience, some of our personal highlights included: the Pigeon, served in two parts. The breast cooked beautifully pink with pear and sherry, and then the slowcooked leg as a small bite with nettle seed and grated smoked heart, with mushroom and blackberry. Very seasonal and comforting. a Hare and celeriac roulade. Never had hare before - what an interesting and exciting gamey experience! a take on pumpkin pie, with Spiced rum, apple and pecan. Yum. Cannabis tea fudge with pistachio. The fragrant tea really balanced out the sweetness of the fudge - didn't think I'd love this, but it was great! To top it off, Josh was really friendly, answered all our questions and explained the dishes, as well as bringing laughter and a good vibe to the table. Read moreJosh hosted an amazing Private Dining experience for 18 of back at the end of February. The food is 10/10 and Josh attention to detail really made it a special experience.
After seeing a lot of his highlights and reviews on socials we were super keen to get something in the diary.
Josh worked closely with a few of us to design the menu and was super informative around adapting and updating based on what people liked and didn't.
Particular highlights for me was the Duck, and his Squid Ink Sourdough w/Burnt Butter and Crackling Crumb was like a Daim Bar in the best way possible.
Would highly recommend, for big or for small parties. Josh was amazing and we'll definitely be booking him...
