We hired the old joinery for a private wedding party and it was an incredible day. Francesca and Tom were super accommodating. We planned to set up the space and arrange performances / food set up ourselves but they were more than happy to act as a point of contact to organise a lot of the day including decoration and even checking names on the door. They spoke with and met some of the performers and food providers prior to the event to make sure everything ran smoothly. The space itself as you can see is gorgeous, a brilliant large outdoor area with space for lots of seats, food stalls, and a band, a section by the creek, well stocked bar inside and a smaller upstairs room for karaoke / more seating, then of course the huge hall for DJ. They had a sound tech to help set up the speakers / lighting, and had mics for both inside and outside for speeches. If you're looking to hire part or all of it we'd definitely recc you to go down, have a look, chat to them and go for it!

We feel so lucky that we had The Old Joinery as our wedding reception venue back in June. Such a big thank you to the amazing team Fran, Ed, and Tom and everyone else at The Old Joinery - you are so good at what you do! You made our night so extraordinary, you kept us on the schedule, you were so good in all the planning before, accommodating and just brilliant. And an amazing team to work with, you really excel at organizing the big events! And we love the venue, we go there regularly for a drink and so special to have our local host the event. So many of our guests commented on how cool the venue is, such a great ambience and so much space for everyone to enjoy a chat, a dance, the outdoor space, or a game of darts or pool! We cannot thank you all enough and feel so blessed that we could have our reception at the Old Joinery. So highly recommend The Old Joinery if you are planning a special event! Thank you again!!

OMG. I am so glad I found this place. WOW. Just wow. Reasons why I love it include the food was delicious. There were two Independent pop ups to choose from- a burger place end a Caribbean place. I ordered the halloumi burger and the patty was a a battered tasty halloumi, it really resembled the size of a burger patty. I also had Parmesan and truffle fries and they were bursting with flavour and were delicious and crispy. The pub in general is very cute, we sat outside on the benches by the river and also enjoyed chilling on the swing chair. I like the up-cycled vibe. Although the pub has got a very similar vibe to canal-side bars and cafes in Hackney Wick, the Old Joinery is more quiet, understated and low-key. I love it!!! Will definitely be back!!

Food and drinks great. Although me and my friends wasn't happy with the customer service. I've booked our table in advance for 4ppl. There wasn't any option if we wanted to eat or drink. When our waiter escort us to our table which was a barrel he asked if we want to eat this will be too small for us we have agreed. He said unfortunately he can't get us bigger table. My friend asked another waiter if there is any chance to change our table as there was plenty tables free next to the creekside and even closer to us was a free table. He suggested to ask the front desk. I've asked the front desk if there is any bigger table for us as we would like to eat and we saw there are so many tables are free. She said unfortunately they are fully booked. I've asked if if we are planing to come next time where can I ask to have bigger table because as I remembered there wasn't any option for that and she said it's a first come first basis system and there is no option for that. Which I didn't understand in that case why are they offering tables in the back to people who just has arrived. We've asked another waiter who was really kind and explained that there will be a birthday party which is make sense and we obviously didn't argue with that. Finally someone kindly apologised. We had our foods one buy one as on the barrel couldn't fit more food. As we stayed there a big table become free and we've asked kindly again if we can sit there and unfortunately we got the no answer again and people who has just arrived set down to the table. I really wanted to love this place and everything else was nice but we didn't feel from the staff that they've tried to make us feel...

We rented this venue for a joint 30th. Scoring based on the venue being amazing. And the owner and bar staff being super friendly, helpful, and competent on the day!

Pre-organisation - not ideal, lots of crossed-wires and backwards and forwards email chains with venue manager. But I understand the venue is new to private hire, so this should only improve moving forward.

Actual venue on the day - really great! It looked amazing, all the staff were lovely, the drinks were very good - Lilly behind the bar couldn’t have been better, and Tom the owner bent over backwards to help. Despite one blown speaker, we had a really lovely time. The disco ball, lights, smoke machine etc. really made it! Everyone is still raving about how amazing things looked.

Cost - On the expensive side due to separate venue hire price. If the pre-planning had been on point, I imagine this cost would have been worth it though. Minimum spend amount was good.

Overall - I’d recommend others host their events here because on the day it was perfect! Everyone had the best time! Just a note to the venue to improve pre-planning and venue...

Food is great and the atmosphere is relaxing in a little oasis on the creek. Only bookings are taken at the moment as Covid restrictions are in place. Food is ordered from each pop individually and apparently changes every 4-6 weeks. Absolutely recommend the food - freshly prepared on site. Would love to return and try out the new food pop ups.

With the seating outside, heaters and a canopy have been erected to allow more comfort on colder and sunnier days. Plants and bark floors give it an almost tropical feel in the concrete jungle.

Dog, kid and adult friendly. Groups accommodated.

Table service is offered for the bar but unfortunately the service is quite slow and we had to wait ages to get served/ receive our first drinks. Think the servers might require a bit more training on the etiquette as we had to call the server 3 times before getting attention again and then didn't get the full order either.

With a bit of tweaking and overseeing of the 'serving floor' this could be an amazing...
