juicebaby is a vegan & vegetarian cold pressed juice bar in chelsea that serves juices, smoothies, bowls, and salads. the ingredients are locally sourced and organic.
I stopped here one morning for breakfast in between teaching yoga classes. the space is really modern in neutral tones with funky writing on the walls and cool decor. plants on the tables add some colour and vibrance.
I went up to the counter and ordered a cappuccino (£3.20) served with their homemade cashew milk and a chia berry parfait (£5.75) made with almond chia pudding, cinnamon cashew cream, chia raspberry compote, coconut chips and strawberries. the coffee was nice and smooth and the parfait was like eating dessert for breakfast. however I was a bit disappointed that the coffee is served in a disposable cup and the pudding pre-made in a plastic container. I had my reusable cup with me so used that instead.
afterwards I ordered to go a ‘chai spiced maca’ smoothie (£6.25) made with maca, banana, almond butter, coconut nectar, chai spice, vanilla, figs, cinnamon & pink salt. it was really tasty and the consistency was great. unfortunately I didn’t have my mason jar on me so again some more plastic. for a place focused on vegetarian, organic and local food I had hoped that they’d be a little more eco conscious and have less unnecessary waste or use more sustainable & recyclable options instead of the plastic bowls and cups.
overall the food and drinks are really nice and would be a lovely place to have a quick catchup. it is a bit more on the pricey side which normally happens when buying organic. I probably wouldn’t come back here again because of the all the disposable waste but it’s definitely worth trying for a does of plant based...
Read moreI’ve been coming to Juicebaby for years—every time I’m back in London over the past 5 years, it’s been my go-to spot for an açaí bowl. The consistency and flavor has always been what keeps me coming back: smooth, creamy, and delicious—the best that I've had in all my travels throughout the world!
Unfortunately, this last visit (after being away for 8 months) was really disappointing, hence the lower rating for the review. The açaí bowl I got was icy and crunchy, which I’ve never experienced here before. There were even chunks of banana in the base, which also hasn’t happened before. I was so looking forward to it after so long, so this really threw me off, especially making the two hour trek from East to West just for the açaí!
I mentioned it to the team and they said the batch was made earlier in the morning and had been sitting in the freezer, which caused the icy texture. They kindly offered to make a second one to take home, but I wasn’t going to be back for five hours and couldn’t keep it cold that long—plus I didn’t want to waste the one I had (since I am all about food waste!), even though it wasn’t good.
Now I'm concerned to go back if the consistency and flavor that I was used to for many years has changed and really hope they return to the smooth, freshly-made consistency that made them a favorite of mine for years—Maybe making smaller batches throughout the day could help avoid this...
Read moreThis place use to be decent but sadly, it kept going downhill. The worst thing a supposedly organic place can do is compromise on ingredients especially when their tag line is “we got a thing for plants”. On many occasions they ran out of basic lemon and used a preservative lemon from co-op that is pre-made in a little plastic bottle that has preservative in it cause I googled the product. Again once I asked for a basic lemon wedge to use on the avocado toast they offered the preservative lemon. Now I basically can’t order anything from there cause how would I know when they will decide to compromise on the most basic ingredient which is fresh lemon in their juices, how could you claim to be all organic and use preservative lemon? It use to be good and the hot pots were good but now it seems it’s more about quantity than actually caring about the quality of the ingredients. Super weird you can’t even stick by your ethos of being about organic fruits and vegetables, it’s a juice place and there’s no...
