KÖD: a name, a guarantee! Yes, because in the KÖD restaurant (which means "meat" in Danish) you'll find the meat of your dreams, superbly prepared from exceptional raw materials. The particular combinations will be able to stimulate both creativity and the palate as well as accompany customers on a truly unique SENSORY and EMOTIONAL JOURNEY. Impeccable service in a well-kept location in the heart of London, believe me when I tell you that each course, perfectly accompanied by expertly recommended wines and cocktails, will leave you speechless both for the splendid presentation and for the goodness ... You'll reach PARADISE and every bite will remain, for eyes and taste buds, unforgettable.

Here's what I recommend you try: STARTERS: Beef tartare with smoked garlic cream and artichoke chips: nothing better if you really want to taste the goodness of the meat in all its INCOMPARABLE flavour Beef carpaccio with old Winchester cheese, VERY DELICATE and of the highest quality Citrus-cured cod ceviche with smoked roe, if you love raw fish YOU WILL ENJOY Tortellini with langoustine , SPACIAL with the fish broth with which they are served MAIN COURSE: KÖD Experience: this selection of grilled meats is a real TRIUMPH for carnivores, from the very tender Japan Wagyu Grade A4 that literally melts in your mouth, to the exceptional Uruguayan fillet steak, to the succulent UK striploin. A JOURNEY THROUGH FLAVOURS that led me to fall in love with Japanese meat, to surprise me with the goodness and consistency of the Uruguayan one, to confirm the delight of British meats. All accompanied by a Madagascar peppercorns sauce and a port wine glaze that… well yes… I have EXCITED! SIDE ORDERS: Fried corn with a mix of homemade spices: believe me, it WILL SURPRISE you, it's pure delight that you can NOT miss Tuscan kale topped with Old Winchester cheese and fresh lemon zest: IRRESISTIBLE combination Chilli Garlic Fries: crispy, dry, definitely INTRIGUING DESSERTS: Vanilla creme brulée with raspberry sorbet: very creamy PLEASURE with a crust that will drive you crazy Chocolate brownie with raspberry mousse, blackberry compote and crystallized white chocolate: REMARKABLE is an understatement! Homemade apple compote in crispy puff pastry with vanilla ice cream, charred white chocolate & sorrel , a BOMB of delight, trust me! WINES: Arco dei Giovo, Valpolicella Ripasso, 2019: full-bodied with fruity aromas, perfectly BALANCED in its full and velvety flavour Chateauneuf du Pape, Cuvee Les Pierres, 2019: intense, complex, ELEGANT Lalama, Dominio do Bibei, Mencia, 2018: RIOT of fruity notes with a citrus and woody background that knows how to EXALT the flavour of meat in a PERFECT way. COCKTAILS: Monkey Twist: Aromatic Gin Tonic that smells of MEDITERRANEAN Twisted Paloma: with its aftertaste of grapefruit and a hint of lime and spices… it's a FANTASTIC combination of sweet and sour with a sparkling touch Our Old Fashioned: one of the most famous classic cocktails in the world, skilfully mixed in a perfect BALANCE New York Sour: the contrast between the aroma of the wine and the taste of the whiskey is simply… UNIQUE DOUBLE COFFEE: perfect union between a "greedy" cream and the aroma of an INTENSE flavoured espresso

My review: 🍽 FOOD, WINE and COCKTAILS: the restaurant's philosophy is to convey emotions to diners with originality and research of the highest quality products. The pride is the meat, coming from the best national and international farms and which is perfectly prepared and served at the KÖD restaurant. The wine list is also broad 💡 ENVIRONMENT: contemporary and elegant design, very comfortable and intimate 💰 PRICE: medium-high 👨‍🍳 STAFF / SERVICE: attentive, enthusiastic, always ready to delight you with smiles and advice combined with experience and professionalism. Ask Oliver... FANTASTIC! 📍LOCATION: 9A Devonshire Square, London EC2M...

I’d seen Köd advertised on social media offering unlimited steak, so being a huge meat eater, was keen to go. I decided to book for my partner’s birthday but I was a little confused by the website as I could only see an unlimited Sunday roast. I decided to email and was pleasantly surprised when I received a response within minutes from a very efficient and friendly person called Morten; a great first impression! So I booked us a table at the City Restaurant. The unlimited steak is just on Sundays though.

The City Restaurant is situated in a redeveloped area where neither of us had been before and it looked lovely. On entering the restaurant we saw a member of staff near the door looking rather flustered and were surprised as he didn’t really acknowledge us. He went to the front desk, then said hello but looked very stressed, so I wasn’t too upset by the lukewarm reception.

We sat down with the menus, but it was quite a while before our order was taken although we were given bread straight away. We opted for the Signature menu because it had all our favourite things: steak tartare, fillet steak and crème brulée. We ordered cocktails too. Unfortunately, everything took a long time to come. We arrived at the restaurant at 7.15pm and our main course only arrived at 8.30pm. Our waiter obviously noticed we were getting a bit twitchy and apologised for the delay saying it was very busy. The table next to us weren’t very happy either and asked where their food was. It seemed like they had a longer wait than us between starters and mains, so I understood their frustration.

It was visibly noticeable that the staff were stressed and under pressure. There were several kerfuffles at the counter where the food came out and staff didn’t seem happy. It seemed like they were all trying very hard but were understaffed. Because we waited so long, we lost our appetite somewhat so passed on dessert.

The food was lovely though. We both enjoyed the steak tartare with the hint of horseradish. My steak was cooked to perfection; I have it blue and often restaurants overcook it. The big surprise was the tomato salad, neither of us a big tomato fans so were rather underwhelmed when presented with a huge side plate each. It was served with basil and feta, and the tomatoes were so sweet and delicious. My partner cleared the entire plate and it was a huge portion. I’m not a huge chips fan but they were delicious, but I only ate a couple as I just wasn’t that hungry.

We had cocktails, which were fine and some wine with the steak, but there’s not a huge selection if you want just a glass.

On entering the restaurant we had a Danish flag placed on our table. We noticed no one else had one, so were confused. I thought possibly it was to do with my partner’s birthday. I’d posted a picture of my partner on Facebook and a friend asked why there was a Danish flag. I said I had no idea and that no one else seemed to have one. She is married to a Dane and said on his birthday he always has a Danish Flag as its tradition. At the end of the meal my partner received a sorbet with a little candle plus a scratch card to win a gift. We didn’t get the £1,000 but won two glasses of Prosecco but sadly we are undecided if we will go back there to claim them.

I get the feeling things usually run much more smoothly and we just experienced a bad night, so we should give Köd another go but my partner isn’t so keen (he has far less patience than me and suffers with hanger!)

Big shout out to Morten for being the quickest person ever to reply to general...

Having frequented KöD Steakhouse London multiple times since its inception, I can confidently say that it consistently delivers an exceptional dining experience. Each visit reaffirms its status as one of the best steakhouses in London, known for premium steaks and impeccable service.

On my most recent visit, our waitress, Caroline, exemplified the high standard of service that KöD is known for. She was particularly attentive to dietary requirements, advising me on which steaks were Halal. Her recommendations were spot-on, enhancing our culinary journey.

Starters We began with a selection of starters that set the tone for an extraordinary meal. The Garlic Prawns & Tabasco Dip featured warm tiger prawns marinated in garlic and parsley, served with a spicy tomato salsa, horseradish, and pea shoots. The prawns were succulent, and the salsa provided a perfect spicy kick, balanced by the fresh horseradish and vibrant pea shoots. The Tri-Tip Tacos were a revelation. These homemade crispy tacos were filled with braised Tri-Tip beef, complemented by a sweet mango chutney, avocado cream, and fresh coriander. The combination of flavours and textures was outstanding, making this dish a must-try.

Main Course For the main course, my friend opted for the Fillet Steak (200g) This grain-fed, Angus & Hereford steak, aged for a minimum of 35 days, was a testament to KöD's commitment to quality. Cooked to perfection, it was tender and flavorful, a delight for any steak lover. At Caroline's recommendation, I chose the AU Ribeye (350g) from Australia. This corn-fed, MB3 Black Angus steak, also aged for at least 35 days, was served with a chimichurri sauce. The ribeye was richly marbled and bursting with flavour, and the Chimichurri added a zesty, herbaceous note that complemented the meat beautifully.

Sides Our sides included the Tomato & Basil salad, featuring fresh cherry tomatoes, yellow semi-dried tomatoes, fresh basil, and creamy white cheese. This refreshing dish was perfect for a warm day, offering a burst of fresh, vibrant flavors. The Butter-Sautéed Mushrooms with pickled pearl onions and thyme were another highlight, offering a delightful, earthy complement to our steaks.

Dessert To conclude our meal, we indulged in the Fried Apple Pie with vanilla ice cream and caramelized white chocolate. This dessert is one of my favourites in London, with its perfectly fried pastry, warm apple filling, and the luscious combination of ice cream and caramelised chocolate.

Drinks and Deals I paired my meal with the Homemade Lemonade, which was refreshingly tart and sweet, hitting all the right spots. KöD also offers some fantastic deals, such as their Lunch Set Menu for only £45 and the Bottomless Brunch at £69, which is a bargain for the high-quality food on offer.

Conclusion As a loyal patron for the past year and a half, I can confidently say that KöD Steakhouse London never disappoints. The team have created a haven for steak enthusiasts, combining premium cuts with exceptional service. KöD is, without a doubt, a gem in London's...

I get the feeling things usually run much more smoothly and we just experienced a bad night, so we should give Köd another go but my partner isn’t so keen (he has far less patience than me and suffers with hanger!) Big shout out to Morten for being the quickest person ever to reply to general enquiries email.
