I usually never review restaurants but I had to for this one;
I was there at lunch today with my friends and it is the worst place I've been to in London ever.
•The staff doesn't speak BASIC english and when I say BASIC, it's like not knowing the difference between a spoon and a knife. •the manager must use vinegar instead of hand-soap because the smell of hands made me want to puke. •She(manager) doesn't take any order, she insists annoyingly for this 1 guy to take orders, and the guy obviously shows up once every 15minutes. •the 1 guy who was taking orders had a huge infection in his eye and wasn't wearing a mask(none of the staff was) •he didn't know what a steak was although he is literally a waiter there, he doesn't know the items so to write them down he has to copy them from the menu like a 3rd grader doing homework. •i ordered an entrecôte and I asked for it to be medium rare, he didn't understand what medium rare was, he said it wasn't on the menu. When I explained to him, he wrote it down. And i got a steak that was more than Well Done. • the poor guy was nice and must be new to this but it was really annoying to walk someone through their own job. He gave me a butter knife for my steak... •the food was, if I'm being generous, mediocre. The garlic bread had so much butter in it, i felt like i was eating a block of butter. The steak tasted like rubber. The only decent thing were the fried zucchinis. •and to top it all, when the manager was at our table for the bill, she wouldn't accept us not paying the service fee which was of 6£. We didn't want to pay for it because of how bad the service was... the additional 6£ service fee were optional and she made it look like it was mandatory. We didn't want to make a scene for 6£ so we just paid it and left. The restaurant isn't expensive at all, so if you're looking for something really cheap, don't care about the service and you're not looking to have good food in particular,...
Read moreI've been going to The Coffee Cup since I was little with my mum and have always had a good experience. I went with my boyfriend yesterday 31st October for what we thought would be a lovely lunch. Unfortunately this wasn't the case. We had ordered the Eggs Benedict with Bacon which had a description underneath saying that this will come with mushrooms, baked beans and hash browns. We thought this was great! Our order came without the mushrooms, baked beans and hash browns, we then wanted to confirm why this wasn't what was served, he then passed this onto the manager/supervisor. He came over and explained the extra lines stated were incorrect and that it was attached to the Vegetarian Breakfast description (which was 2 options above our option). He said it was a mistake but he then became very rude and sharp to my boyfriend and I. He at one point didn't let me continue with my sentence and continued to raise his voice, whilst we kept calm in this situation. To make less of a hassle for him we agreed to eat what was given despite the order being wrong. A few moments late he came and firmly placed the plate down on the table with 6-8 mushrooms with two hash browns and said 'There you go'. It looked like there was no consideration in what had happened or how he had spoken to us. We've both worked in hospitality and would never speak to customers with an attitude, raise their voice or become dismissive. We would have respected the manager/supervisor more if he had accepted the menu was incorrect and not continued with an attitude.
It will be very hard for us all to go back ever again with the worry we will receive the same service as yesterday and...
Read moreI went here with my friend. Because we aren't ordering meals from the cafe, the waitress requested that we sit outside. However, I could see two white women sitting at a table by the door simply enjoying a cup of coffee, as well as more than three unoccupied tables inside. It was nevertheless fine. There were two heaters where we were sitting outside. I asked the waiter to turn on the heater, but she refused my request, claiming that they were broken. Later on five white British people arrived and sat down next to us and a waiter immediately came and turned on the heater only on their side. As a result, he turned it on for us when I requested him to. I was furious. They didn't even ask, but I could tell that everyone was happy to have them. And despite my repeated requests, nothing was done. After discussing this with the staff, I discovered that the waitress who had been serving us had either left or perhaps had no desire to return. The staff stated that it is unrelated and that he will apologise the following time. I most certainly...
