We visited the King's Head in Tooting on Sunday to celebrate a birthday and watch the England Euros match. Firstly the manager is always very welcoming towards us as we are locals and often choose to watch the sports there. She was very accommodating as we had a disabled attendee within a party of 6 and despite not having a table booked they still accommodated for us greatly.
Despite the welcoming and friendly atmosphere unfortunately, some members of staff didn't seem well trained as 4 out of 6 meals we ordered were wrong. They were incorrectly entered onto the system and we had the wrong meals delivered. The team however did correct the mistake immediately and were very apologetic. Unfortunately, even when the correct food was served the quality of it was not great! We ordered 4 steak roasts all medium-rare and when they arrived they were all cooked well done and very chewy. The potatoes were extremely dry and the beef dripping tasted very oily and unpleasant. The only thing that was enjoyable was the peppercorn sauce. It's a shame because the staff are fantastic but the food isn't, which let the whole experience down.
We very much enjoy our time at the King's Head Tooting hence why we return but the food needs to improve majorly, and the staff's knowledge of drinks needs to be consistent as some know a lot and others barely anything as our drinks were often made wrong. We were told that there was no IPA or Ale in stock, however we noticed there was bottles in the fridge which we was happy to substitute for on-tap. And then noticed that the person being served after us recieved IPA on tap. When we rasied this with the bar staff we was then served a pint instead of a half like we asked. We was also served whiskey when we asked for spiced rum.
We were understanding that it was a match day which can be extremely busy and stressful for the staff. However we did make sure to come to the pub 3 hours before the match started and spent over £150 on food and drinks we was still met with these mistakes and didn't feel...

This pub was built in 1896 by W M Brunton and is Grade II listed. Brunton was a prolific designer of pubs in the late 19th century and this is said to be his masterpiece. . Thankfully a lot of the original features have been retained inside this imposing boozer. The pub is divided in to three bar areas, two with access to the servery and one former billiard room at the rear. The stand out feature of this pub is the etched stained glass partitions around the beautifully victorian tiled entrance to the gents toilets, it’s simply stunning. There is plenty of seating in all bars including comfy chesterfields to relax back in to. At the centre of the main bar is a large atrium which floods the bar with light. At the side of the pub is a large beer garden for the warmer months. Overall the pub has a very traditional old school feel which was great. . This is a @greeneking_official pub and you would think the beer choice would be average but not here. There were eight cask pumps, four cider, four ale plus an impressive keg and bottle options. I noticed they served @paulaner which is one of my favourites, so pint of that please. My pint was top drawer, price point was a bit punchy. There is the typical Greene King food menu available, Fish & Chips randomly costs £13.19. . There was a cracking atmosphere and proper Saturday lunchtime pub ambience. The punters were from every generation and walk of life which speaks volumes for the popularity of this pub. The footy was on and I caught the tail end of the Liverpool v Chelsea game which was on the many screens around the walls. . The @kingsheadtooting is an outstanding pub and the best Greene King pub I’ve ever been to. The building, the decor and the atmosphere are all first class. The beer choice was a big bonus too. This pub is up there with the top pubs in London, loved it 🍻 . ℹ️ Info correct on...
Read moreCame here again as I had good experiences here previously. This time I was less impressed, I wasn't made aware at the time of ordering that the flat iron steak cannot be cooked to choice/preference, it was only either medium well (slightly pink) or cooked, I asked for rare no question asked and order was accepted. Obviously when the steak came out it wasn't rare and of course I asked the waitress who brought it out that I asked for rare and it's not. It got taken back to redone - again was not made aware that rare is not a choice. This took another 20 mins. In that time my partner ate his food, I didn't want him waiting and his food going cold. When it came back out, steak was cold and barely pink. I took this to the bar to speak to a member of staff who then kindly told me that they are not able to cook it to preference as its not served that way. I was allowed to change my meal and I chose what my partner had as it was quite nice when I took a bite. It took a further 50 mins or so for food to come out, by then I wasn't that hungry anymore and we were there longer than we wanted. The burger wasn't as nice, cheese was cold and the burger was definitely not as well made as my partners burger. I ate half and left. Really unimpressed with how slow it took to have the meal recooked. I shouldn't have to watch my partner eat, wait ages for my food and have a meal I didn't enjoy. What was supposed to be a nice mini Sunday date night post a 12 hour shift turned into something quite stressful and I didn't enjoy it. The bar staff who dealt with the chanhe of meal was lovely, but the kitchen shouldn't have taken so long to make food that's to correct a meal.
Also a note...the app has a picture of the steak and its clearly cooked beautifully to rare...its false advertising of the dishes on the menu. Something for the app/menu team to correct.
Good choice of food and drinks. Lots of options for sharing platters. Good amount of screens to...
