Royal Mahal is a true gem among restaurants, leaving a lasting impression with its exceptional atmosphere, exquisite dishes, and outstanding service. From the moment you step through the door, it’s clear that this is a place that pays great attention to detail – from the elegant decor, to the pleasant background music, and the friendly, professional staff who ensure every aspect of the visit is perfect. One of Royal Mahal’s biggest strengths is, of course, its cuisine. The menu impresses with its variety and commitment to authenticity. Every dish I had the pleasure of trying was perfectly prepared and full of rich, deep flavors. The spices are used with skill, enhancing the taste of the food without being overwhelming. I particularly recommend the meat dishes – juicy, aromatic, and impeccably seasoned. Vegetarians will also find plenty of delicious options, with plant-based dishes that are just as flavorful as the traditional fare. The service at Royal Mahal is top-notch. The waitstaff is incredibly polite, knowledgeable, and always eager to help with dish or drink selections. Every visit feels special, as the staff goes above and beyond to meet guests' expectations at the highest level. Even when the restaurant is busy, the food is served promptly and with great attention to detail. The atmosphere in the restaurant is both cozy and elegant. It’s the perfect spot for a romantic dinner, a family meal, or a gathering with friends. For those who appreciate peace and an intimate setting, Royal Mahal is a perfect choice. The interior design is tasteful, with subtle nods to traditional art, further enhancing the sense of authenticity and uniqueness of the place. The prices are reasonable for the quality that Royal Mahal offers. While it may not be the cheapest option, the quality of the food, service, and atmosphere more than justifies the cost. This is a place you’ll want to return to again and again to enjoy more exceptional culinary experiences. In summary, Royal Mahal is a restaurant I would recommend to anyone looking for not only excellent food but also a fantastic atmosphere and professional service. Whether for a special occasion or just a casual meal, every visit to this restaurant is bound to be an unforgettable experience. It’s a true paradise for food lovers, leaving a lasting impression!

I have been coming to the tooting one for over 10 years and now I can honestly say today was the last time. As a regular old time customer, I was given extremly poor customer service and the prices of the products against the quality being served has not been great. Since it changed to royal mahel I have found the standards and customer service has significantly dropped. Had a problem today that was caused by the waiters poor recommendation, not only was the recommendation not match what we wanted (we were misled-as we were told that that platter contained certain items we wanted but it did not and we took his word for it), and also the quality, portion and price of the platter was poor (packet samosas, rubbery old masala chips) We were forced to pay for it although we did not eat a single part ( regret not walking out without paying as we did not eat the food at all) as the manager was not really helpful (which was quite sad as we were regular old customers- so we would not complain unless it was really bad) and insisted it would be thrown in the bin and they could not replace it with somthing else so not much was done to sort the issue. As a muslim I am severely against throwing food in the bin. Hence why we grudgingly decided to pay and fed this food to other people so not to waste. Very poor on royal mahels behalf. Will be going back to spice village brand across the road! We tried some of the dynamite chicken packed away as we were so upset by the service we wanted to leave. It is basically 4 pieces of fried chicken breast covered in peri peri mayonnaise (did not taste great). Do not recommend royal mahel anymore. Dawat is great and very hospitible and service wise very very good. Realistic images of some items have been added (this is how the food was packed - as service and quality was so poor we decided to pack and leave) It is not always like this, many times we have come and had a great time- so it is very inconsistent and i would recommend keema naan and haleem. But this time it really was bad and off putting due to the service, quality and wasted our money. If the issue was dealt with good service im sure we could have left as satisfied customers.

Got seats on a Friday night straight away without the need for reservations. Atmosphere was alright. Noisy with everyone chatting away and the odd birthday tunes blaring out for when their cake comes out. There's a selection of starters, mains and dessert to choose from. We concentrated only on the starters, mains and sundries. Got a few currys between us and a mixed grill. I ordered the butter chicken hoping it would be rich and flavoursome. To be honest, it's not the type of dish I normally go for compared to say a Lamb or chicken Karahi. Got some daal, lamb balti and a kebab karai. For starters, got a shami kebab, dynamite king prawns and pizza samosa. A couple of pilau rices and regular naan, peshwari naan and a keema naan. The shami kebab is not very big compared to say something you'd get in the original kebabish. It was okay, nothing to write home about. The dynamite king prawns were very nice, a prawn fried in batter then lathered in a sharp and tiny bit sweet sauce, sitting on a bed of shredded lettuce which is covered witha spicy mayo. You get about 6 or 7 per portion. In all, a nice starter and something I would recommend. The mixed grill was okay. You get some lamb chops, sheek kebab, chicken tikka on a bed of fried onions. We also got a whole Charga chicken. A bit like a tender roast chicken covered with spices. Again on a bed of fried onions. It was okay. One other thing I forgot to mention, when they bring the food out they bring out a small cup with a bit of dry ice and they add warm water to it for dramatic smoky effects. Going back to the food, the kebab karai was nice and the balti too. The butter chicken, in my opinion was a let down. The rich creamy dish it wasn't. It was a shame. The peshwari naan was very nice. If you have a sweet tooth you need this. The keema nice was okay but a not much keema in it. And the plain old naan was as good as any. We didn't have any desert, between the four of us we racked up a bill of just under £132.00 (no drinks). It's the kind of place I would say to try at least once. That said, I don't think I'll be visiting again.

This was the first time we visited this place yesterday. The recommendation was based on my son‘s wanting to go there for an evening meal. I know this place has been here for many years and I have seen it many time very busy very packed full of families. So I had no hesitation in taking my wife and sun with me yesterday when we arrived we were taken to our seats pretty quickly . I know the Restaurant is now going through some form of renovation as you could see some elements of building works going on . I have to say after looking at some of the reviews and looking at how busy this restaurant is, I cannot understand why it’s so busy. This has to be one of the worst quality meals I’ve had in a very long time we eat out a lot as a family. We ordered lamb chops, lamb Samosa lamb shish kebabs and a portion of Pakoras that was our starters for a main course we ordered Keema biryani and our son ordered butter chicken and we had two roti. We also ordered mango Lassi strawberry dream and one bottle of sparkling water. We made it clear we wanted the starters before the main course I have to say the lamb chops were very basic. The pakoras we had to send back as they were rock hard. The Samosa was swimming in oil. Looks like they’ve been re-cooked the the lamb Sheek kebabs which I had I have to say I was surprised we’re the only decent thing on the menu that we had. The drinks were fine as there was no issue. As for the main course well what can I say? A disaster is to put it politely the butter chicken was absolutely disgusting tasteless and my son did not like it at all as for the keema biryani. It was very tasteless and the keema was not proper mince. It was bits of lamb that had been chopped up and thrown into the rice. I have to say I was very disappointed. As for the roti it was rock hard. I did ask for it to be buttered but they had not remembered as for the so-called fresh salad. It wasn’t fresh and it was swimming in water so for someone who goes out almost on a weekly basis, if I were to say we will never be coming back to this place ever again that’s putting it politely for somewhere that is well known in tooting as a so-called brilliant Pakistani restaurant the owners senior managers need to really taste the food before it leaves the kitchen as I’m sorry to say this is some of the worst quality food I’ve had in a very long time and I can assure you I will not be coming back to this place over again. There are many good places in the area so very good food but this is definitely not...

ABSOLUTE JOKE OF A PLACE – AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

I have NEVER in my life been treated with such blatant disrespect as I was at Royal Mahal for there iftar buffet. This place should be ashamed of itself. Walked in expecting a nice meal, only to be met with the most unprofessional downright rude staff I’ve ever encountered. Told them we tried to call 47 times before coming from 12pm-5 pm when we actually went in, and the guy goes like” um yea can’t help can we?, we’re just that busy!” BUSY! THE HALL WAS PRETTY EMPTY AND WE COULD SEE THERE WERE HARDLY ANY RESERVATIONS FOR THE DAY! THEY COULD’VE EASILY ACCOMMODATED THREE PEOPLE AT LEAST, BUT CHOSE NOT TO! Yet, I understood its Ramadan and it’s difficult so, I asked how long the wait would be—logical question, right? This guy just shrugged and said “Don’t know, we’re busy.” Are you joking? No offer to put my name down, no estimate, no effort whatsoever. Just a “Go away, we don’t care” attitude. At this point, I was fuming. I asked if there was any chance we could be seated later, and he had the AUDACITY to say, “Probably not, best try somewhere else.” EXCUSE ME? That’s how you treat customers? Just shove them out the door like trash? This place clearly only serves people they feel like serving. The arrogance, the sheer lack of professionalism, the absolute disrespect—it’s beyond belief. I wouldn’t eat here if it was the last restaurant on earth. Additionally, we came downstairs to complain to the guy who was outside just making videos and he seemed like the manager so we thought it would be best to let him know how his staff treated us. Guess what?! He goes on to say the same thing and even more rudely tell my mother that “oh sister you should’ve called” when I told him the amount of times I’ve tried calling showing him my call log, he had the audacity to say “ It’s Ramadan and you shouldn’t be angry about this, it’s just how it works!” HOW IT WORKS! I myself have worked in the hospitality industry for so long, so Ik exactly how everything works especially during Ramadan. This was just purely pathetic, especially as a first time customer to them!

DO YOURSELF A FAVOUR AND GO SOMEWHERE THAT ACTUALLY VALUES CUSTOMERS. ROYAL...
