I ordered delivery - got a large Chicken Katsu curry with noodles, with Prawn Gyoza, San Pellegrino Blood Orange and Aka Daifuku (mochi.) The food arrived at a reasonable pace; within half an hour. It came to £18 in total which is good value for a very satisfying, fresh-tasting, high quality and filling meal.
The Katsu was excellent - everything tasted fresh, the chicken was moist, the panko was spot on, the noodles were nice and the sauce was great. I think next time I'll ask for extra sauce; I felt it needed more (perhaps because it was so good!) The mochi was interesting; it's new to me and I've never had anything like it. Soft, chewy, quite sweet (but not nearly as sweet as I expected) and slightly smoky, I suppose. It was very nice.
The Gyoza was fresh and lovely - nicely seasoned filling, light, etc. - but it was cold. This is totally forgivable because steamed dumplings like Momo or Gyoza are really not ideal for delivery as they cool off quickly, I didn't realise this until the day after. The dipping sauce whilst also quite nice - a pungent soy sauce - was also barely there; it was just a thin layer at the bottom of an almost empty container. I'm not sure if this was intentional or not but it seemed odd, I think it was a mistake. To be fair, they work well without the sauce so this was not a big issue, but I felt it should be noted.
San Pellegrino make very high quality, refreshing drinks and the Blood Orange is no exception, it's a nice complement to the food. I did notice however that it was somewhat room temperature when I received it - it was warm yesterday so I can forgive that to a degree but I expected it to be colder and I only had it out for a few minutes before I started eating.
A couple of quibbles are not enough to put me off, though. I would highly recommend this place to anyone who wants good Japanese food in Bromley. I definitely look forward to...
Read moreI wanted to have some sushi the othere day with my gf. We decided we go to kokoro again as onece we have been and food was okay but didnt expected anything. Well the guy who works there gave us a book with all the sushi they have and we ordered around 6 diffeent plates. The sushi was all amqzing as he hand rolled them there except one of them what was from the fridge. I wanted to order some more and i said to make them fresh as from the fridge is like from tescos hard and tastless. He was happy to do it when the boss arrived and said sorry we dont make fresh sushi. I said well thats the reason i want more as before the guy made it for us. He said that was an exception and he shouldnt do that anyway as we should only have the onece in the fridge!!! He was very rude and said if i want to eat fresh sushi i should go to a restaurant and pay 3 or 4 times the price for it !!! I mean really??? How can you say that? I said i dont mind paying 2 or 3 times the price but i want fresh sushi.he said NO. Also in Q restaurants when you pay 3 or 4 times the price they will give you twice the size of sushis and even so will not be that much more.maybe a bit more expensive but the service and envyroment will be much better. I can t belive the atitude of the boss or store manager whoever he is. I will definetly not go back there any...
Read moreWill start by saying that I hardly leave any review, but after my experience here today I felt compelled to.
The positives are the portion sizes for the price, the taste and that’s about it.
Service is possibly up there with one of the worst I have ever experienced. I understand it’s the school holidays, therefore 16 year old will be looking for work, companies are happy to hire cheap labour and so fourth.
This does not mean you cannot carry out service with a smile. Not a single thank you, would you like or anything of the sort. Having worked in several restaurants, cafes, bars I understand that not every day do you have the energy to be chirpy however, you can at least pretend to do so.
Dirty tables everywhere as the girls looked on from their mobile phones. A gentleman who I assumed is either the owner/manager did not suggest that they should tidy them up either. Every table had a mess left on it from the previous customer.
Although the food was good, this is not the determining factor in dining at a restaurant again following your first experience. Repeat custom is essential.
I hope the manager is able to drum this into the young girls heads - yes, they won’t work there forever, but at least try during your time. Take some pride in your work, no matter how...
