My partner took me to London Naru Restaurant in Greenwich last night for my birthday. We waited an hour for our dinner which never came. People around us who had come in a half hour and 45 minutes after us were being served. As we got up to leave we asked our server what the problem was. He said "They had run out of what we ordered and had to go to the basement." I guess their basement must be in Essex. Not sure what they ran out of since we ordered different thjings We went next door to the Rose and Crown pub and had a great dinner served by a very hospitable staff.

This was the only way I could find to reply to your reply.

Thanks very much for your response. I was in the hospitality industry for 34 years though not in food service. I realize your restaurant is new which is one of the reasons we choose you, we like to support small businesses.

One suggestion I'd like to make when training your staff (which are hard to get these days) is if there is a problem getting the order to the table let the customer know why it's taking so long and how much longer it will ytake. Don't just let them sit there kept waiting and waiting, which was our case.

I will try your...

Unfortunately we had such a disappointing experience at Naru. Our food was horrendously delayed for the entire meal - we both ordered a starter and a main each, and the miso soup, which was the second thing to arrive, arrived after an hour from placing our order.

The staff, whilst very welcoming, didn’t really seem to know the menu - I pointed out a fried chicken dish on another table, and they advised it was the ‘chicken assortment’ dish, so we opted for that, and it was a range of breaded fried chicken with bones and sticky Korean glaze, which looked nothing like the dish I had previously pointed out.

Each dish came separately, and with an inordinate and baffling amount of time in between, and wasn’t particularly brilliant food either - with exception to the seafood pancakes which were first to arrive (though still took what felt like forever) and were very good. The meals were so spread out that staff came to clear our table and offer us dessert before the final dish (a tofu broth) had arrived.

Looking at previous Google reviews it seems that the sushi there is very popular, and it was also quick to come out of the...

London Naru had a small shop near the train station and have now moved to a larger premise where they can offer a full menu of Korean cuisine.

The food is excellent as always with generous portions, interesting dishes and fresh ingredients (we put them to the test with some raw specialties where you cannot hide the quality of the produce).

They still need to iron front of house details such as service (a little green), music selection and the menu (could be daunting to those not familiar with Korean cuisine as it is quite extensive and can lack detail on what each dish is). But you cannot fault this truly family businesses for these small details. The food is perfect which shows where the chef passion is.

I can see myself coming back here as you can do a short lunch (they have cheap set meals at noon), come as a group to enjoy the tasty Korean specialties or simply have a sushi set meal on your own whenever you fancy.

A great addition to the Greenwich town restaurant scene which is full of chains with zero soul.

Note: they don’t have an alcohol license just yet (maybe they should offer BYOB until...

I live just behind Naru and visit Naru frequently since they opened last year. However, the most recent meal I had when I brought 9 friends to visit the place last weekend was very disappointing. They were clearly unable to manage with the number of customers during lunch: 1) service was appalling - they served half the table and then proceeded to serve other customers. Some of my friends waited almost an hour for our food, the tteokbokki which is meant to be an appetiser came only at the very end. Had to follow up with the manager and explained the situation to them but even then, they looked confused and couldn’t tell which order has and has not been served. The worst is that some of us ordered the same dish but only a few of us were served the food; 2) we had a few wrong orders. We asked if the waiter should repeat our order and he said he didn’t need to; and 3) food was below par compared to the usual times we visit on weekdays.
