We are theatre goers but this a first visit here to the Greenwich Thestre, to see the play “Frozen” by Bryony Lavery, at yesterday’s matinee, with really electric, stunning performances from the three fantastic cast members, actors James Bradshaw, Indra Ove, Kerrie Taylor. The play was four times TONY award nominated when it played on Broadway in 2004 and has now transferred here from West End success.
The play is gritty and deals with very tough themes with memorable, mesmerising performances.
Greenwich Theatre is a great local theatre with a proud history and heritage of staging excellent productions.
The theatre was not full which was a pity as the performing artists on stage were outstanding.
The superb rotating stage, set design and effects were excellent, you feel really part of what is going on, and absolutely made this production stand out from the also very excellent West End production a while back.
The bar area was quiet as the theatre was not full, but they offer a great selection of drinks, at very reasonable prices, we had a Greenwich Gin and tonic and Chenin Blanc white wine and both drinks were really great quality.
An important heads up, though, quite a lot of stairs up to the performance area, and not certain if there is any disabled access to the auditorium. I took my time but made it up fine.
Enjoyed the production more here than when we saw it in the West End, to be honest, looked at upcoming production flyers and noticed a play by the great Jez Butterworth is due to be playing here in October, and we have booked to return to see it.
Despite certain areas of the theatre needing some tlc, we have no hesitation in giving the theatre five stars, as the staff were super lovely and enthusiastic. We’d say please do come here if you can, and support the theatre, because the super staff and quality of production will absolutely justify your visit.
We are really Looking forward to returning in October.
Our thanks to all staff, cast and crew for all your hard work and making this...
Read moreA magical moment at the theater I’ll never forget – Tooob
Today I had the joy of taking my daughter to the theater to see Tooob — and what a wonderful, unforgettable experience it was for both of us! The performance was absolutely beautiful, full of tenderness and imagination. The lead actress was simply incredible — so talented, graceful, and captivating. She brought the stage to life in such a magical and touching way.
My daughter had so much fun! Watching her smile, laugh, and be completely engaged was incredibly emotional for me as a mother. It’s rare to find a show so carefully crafted, so full of soul, and so genuinely moving. I honestly can’t remember the last time a performance stirred me like this.
I want to send my heartfelt congratulations to everyone involved in Tooob, and especially to the amazing actress who gave us this gift of a performance. Her presence was mesmerizing — a true artist who created a beautiful connection with the audience, and especially with the little ones.
I truly recommend Tooob to every family. It’s more than a show — it’s a poetic, magical experience that brings parents and children together in wonder. Thank you for such a touching and unforgettable day. You should all...
