Of course the most important thing to take into consideration is the food, it was fairly descent or "mehhh" as I'd like to put it, but it was nothing that would tempt you back for more. If you decide to venture on to the floating Lotus I suggest the shredded duck noodles and or the fries, very delicious. One advantage the Lotus has is its unique location, and so with that comes a gorgeous view of the docks at night (especially from the loo windows down stairs). In regards to the resteraunt itself it felt and looked extreemly dated and needs a major refurb, the table linen a sickly yellow accompinied by cutlery and table ornaments which looked like they belonged in an antique shop. Beside from that, the staff (although freindly and welcoming) seem to keep a very close eye on you while your dining. Lastly, be aware of the hefty bill you receive at the end of your meal, beside from the overpriced menue you are given a five to six pound service charge. To add fuel to the fire the change we required from an almost sixty pound meal wasn't offered to us, instead a quick thank you and goodbye was offered in it's place. Give it a try, you'll either love it or hate it...

TLDR; this is no longer the pre pandemic Lotus. Quality of dim sum is same as the frozen stuff at best. Very sad to see this place as a shadow of its former self. Before the pandemic this place was buzzing and whilst the dim sum were not the best, it was decent and the location made it a convenient to meet up with friends in the docklands. Now only the top floor is for the restaurant and the ground floor is an Asian super market. Both are executed half heartedly. The grocery shop isn’t particularly well stocked or priced. The restaurant has an extremely limited menu and I am pretty sure most of the dim sum are made from the frozen packets sold just one floor down. I cannot emphasis this enough, the food is beyond disappoint. Just check out the photos, each dish tasted as sad as it looked. With Royal China and TianTian super market just around the corner, it is no wonder why this place was so empty during lunch time on a Sat. The only saving grace is that the staff were friendly and the view is still there. However, these are the only reasons why they this is not a 1 star review.

Be careful of your money. I am always working until late and this restaurant is the only one locally open until 10:30PM hence I went there every night for dinner since I found it. Tonight the dinner price was 31.3 pounds after discount. I put 2 x £20 notes + £ 1.30 , total 41.30 pounds and expecting for £10 change. To my surprise, the waiter took money and never bring back change. Then I went to counter and asked for the change. The lady told me that she only received £ 31.80 and showed me the notes, which was not actually the notes I handed in before. Because in my wallet I only has one £10 note which is still in my wallet and to make sure she gave me £10 change, I double checked I handed in 2x £20 notes before she collected cash. However, I don't wanna start an argument with the lady as there was no CCTV camera at my table, but, this is the last time I go there. So be mindful if you pay cash , always remember to count twice.

A shambolic restaurant experience. Kept waiting for several minutes before anyone greeted us and led us to a table. We waited ages to order and had to call the waitress to do so. The drinks came quickly but it was about 25 mins until the starter arrived only for it to be the wrong item. As soon as we were able to find someone to tell them about the wrong order, the correct starter was brought out in about 10 mins.

My main course (chicken curry) came out after a long wait. It had a film forming on the top layer where it had gone cold, probably from sitting in the kitchen waiting for a waiter to collect it. The rice didn’t come with it though. My friend’s egg fried rice came out about 5 mins later but no sign of his main course or my steamed rice. My friend insisted I start eating the curry with his rice until the remaining order came out. Despite eating my cold curry very slowly in the hope that my friend’s main course would soon arrive, I was just finishing it off when they brought my (cold) steamed rice about 15/20 mins after they brought my main course). We took advantage of the waiter’s presence to ask about my friend’s sweet & sour prawns and she rushed off (to go and find it we hoped). After another 10 mins with no sign of the food or waiter we went to the cashier to pay. After a discussion they did agree to deduct the steamed rice and my friend’s main course but still charged 12.5% for the almost non-existent service. Got to be the worse experience I’ve ever had in...

DO NOT VISIT. It was the absolute WORST experience I have ever had in a Chinese restaurant. We were the first customers on a Saturday for lunch so surely as a normal human mind would think, you wouldn’t miss any orders. But no, we waited 15mins, then 20 and then because we had patience and empathy we thought we waited a simple more mins till we were annoyed at 40mins wait. Not a single dish being served yet. We saw the waitresses eating lunch on the other table already and wondered where our food was. The waitresses did not even come once during the 40mins wait to ask whether we have our food already nor did they wonder why for 40 mins there is no food on the ONLY customer’s table. We finally asked. And the explanation the owner came back after a 40min wait was ā€œoh the order didn’t go through. The kitchen downstairs didn’t receive the orderā€. And instead of apologising or saying something to make up for the ridiculous wait, the owner merely said it’s the machine’s problem not his problem. We walked out immediately when we heard that even after 40mins, the food has not even started cooking yet. The most horrible experience ever. It’s not like we only ordered two dishes. We ordered at least 8 or 9. DO NOT RECOMMEND this restaurant at all. Reading other comments looks like they serve frozen and stale food too. Maybe it’s a good thing we didn’t end up...

Terrible experience, one of the worst experience about restaurant!!!Never ever come back to this resteruant again! How I got treated was disgusting. They don’t even deserve one star. Me and my partner have been waiting outside for the restaurant to open. He went to the toilet just before we were about to be sited. The resteruant owner said I cannot have a table until my partner is returned so I got to wait although I have told her I can order straight away as I know what we want. She just ignored me then called the next customers. I said hold on, what happened if I am one person, can I have a table for one. She then lead me to the back corner of the boat dumped the menu on the table. I mean what on earth is this!!!!! The worst part is actually the lady in front of us got a table straight away when the owner asked how many people and the lady said they are somewhere in the restaurant....:. She didn’t get ask to wait for her family to return back to the queue... what kind of service is this? I come to this restaurant all the time and have been treated like this! I will never ever in a million years going back to this restaurant again and I wouldn’t recommend my family and friends to go just in case they have been treated...
