Lu-Ma Cafe — Restaurant in London

Tasty food but tiny portions. Service is poor too. These guys really know how to cook, but unfortunately portions are super tiny so it feels very, very overpriced. The mains are too small to fill you up. They charge restaurant prices in the cafe set up so I would say it’s totally not worth the money. Guys, either increase the portion sizes by at least 50% or charge much less! Also, the service is rather disappointing. I asked on my first visit what is the portion size for the curry and the girl that was serving me replied with an attitude ’regular portion sizes’. Clearly not. She wasn't very keen to answer any of my questions regarding ingredients. I would not recommend. The place has a potential! I’ll come back in a few months time to see if they improved their prices or portion sizes!

I'm glad to see that you're reading reviews. "Small business, cooking from scratch" is a terrible excuse for serving small portions. You charge enough to offer a more substantial meal. Also, you could easily make portions more filling without spending too much on the ingredients. I stopped using your cafe as every time after spending 9£ or 11£ (average price for the main) I was still feeling hungry. Winter Buddha Bowl is the size of the starter, and it costs 10.95£. I was asked what size it is and was shown the takeaway box. It looked promising, but the food didn't even fill a third of the box so felt extremely disappointed when I opened the box. It was very tasty, but again tiny portion (I had to get soup from Waitrose to survive until dinner). As for the waiting staff, I'm sure that you're aware of the problem with at least one member of your team (maybe I was unlucky). I'm not going to go into the details here and name...

I have been to Lu-ma cafe a few times since we moved to the area because it’s the nearest to where I live and because we are vegetarians. When I first saw this cafe online I was so excited and thought this was going to be our regular, and believe me I tried really hard. But I’ve stopped going there completely and that’s because of the very poor unfriendly service who make me feel unwelcome every time I have to speak to them to order something at the counter. One of them is the worst culprit of that. I’m very surprised by the positive reviews here of the service and given it’s not just me but my friends who also experienced it maybe it’s a certain type of customers who are implicitly not welcome here (for example we have kids). The owner seems to respond to comments here, I would be interested to know how they respond to this, if they really genuinely care about customer reviews they won’t be defensive I hope and acknowledge there’s a problem. If there was a chance for me to rate 0 for this place , trust me I would . I happen to go to this restaurant for a breakfast after hitting the gym with my friends . First of all , there was a young man who totally judged us for no reason as if we are here for free food . We were three and he gave us a table of 2 and didn’t even bother to bring us an extra chair to sit . He even made us to collect the menu from the front . The food was okay but what wasn’t okay was the service . The bill never came to the table which was okay and we went straight to the counter to pay . This same young guy passed a sarcastic comment when we we asked him to split the bill among us . Dude you are here to serve and not act entitled. Never coming back to this place again just because of him and only him . If I knew his name , trust me I would have called out to him over here .
