I wish I could say I'd purchased some lovely Italian goodies to take back home to Sheffield, but this review is about so much more. There's some backstory here:
I'm the 1970s my mother was the manager of a Kentucky Fried Chicken on Fulham Road. She died when I was young and I don't have any photos or mementos, nor anyone to ask about her. I remember her sayinf she always crossed the road to go to Finch's Pub after work, and managed to find it's now the Kings Arms. I couldn't get inside for a photo as it's not accessible and they don't have a ramp so disabled folks can get inside. Not knowing the address of her former shop, but knowing it was a Chinese restaurant about 15 years ago, I spotted the Luigins sign saying it's been three since 193 so took a chance they might know where her old work was. To my astonishment they had a portable ramp! Sadly I didn't have time to go in (nor room in my luggage) but they were so kind, welcoming and helpful. Ill be sure to come back when I...
Read moreI have been coming here since 2019. It used to have decent customer service with good wholesome Italian food and produce. Unfortunately, I have encountered upon neglectful and slow customer service on two consecutive occasions this week alone. One of the staff was in the back scrolling through his phone despite seeing me wait, the other one I was waiting for prolonging conversation with other customers despite it being busy and having three people waiting. There is a time and place for everything but obviously that wasn’t taken into consideration. One of the worst passive ignorance I have ever encountered, completely ignoring my presence or what I’m saying and opting to speak to lady who was behind me and had been browsing around rather than waiting to be served. Would rather buy a plane ticket to puglia, get better service and food at a fraction of the price and fly back than experience this for third time.Never...
Read moreI was very pleased with Italian cakes I bought here. They were delicious and fresh. However, the Italian staff acted as a bunch of crooks. They should know that Italians are known for dishonesty at business deals. And so I agree with other less favourable reviews here - every single time I was paying I was told a different price for the same items. There are many products with missing price labels and so beware - the price is then made out of thin air depending on the mood of lifeless shop assistants. They never made eye contact with me even when I was speaking to them. They all seem they have enough of their mundane work and are done with life. At times the price difference was great. I stopped coming here because I chose to support honest business instead. There is Carluccios 20 minutes away at South Kensington with excellent customer service, plenty of seats and their cakes are most...
