Went into Maria’s as we normally do on a Saturday .. was not particularly busy but we waited ages .. 15 mins Ordered two coffees.. fine .. then the lady came over and asked if we were eating today… when we said no .. we’re asked to leave as if you don’t eat you cannot only have coffee .. was really surprised .. sometimes we eat sometimes we don’t.. I always want to support local small businesses however I have never been in a costa and been refused service .. other customers were surprised that we were asked to leave .. Marias is not cheap even for coffee.. will never go there again. I appreciate business needs to make a living however...
Read moreI love this place it has a warm friendly atmosphere and the owners Maria and Aldo are funny kind and helpful. The food is good the drinks hot and a good price you can book for a specific celebration and they will bring the cake and everyone joins in singing happy birthday there are a lot of regulars who you get to chat to .Some customers forget it is cold outside and leave the door open which is annoying and costly for the owners . A friendly independent cafe which is always busy .Thanks Maria...
Read moreStrange experience, lovely little cafe, had an ok breakfast with some friends, was enjoying a drink after on my own when a female member of staff asked me to leave as the table was needed by another lady. Very odd…. It appears as if the lady was a local regular but to ask customers to leave or sit outside like I did, with no explanation apart from, ‘you have to leave now, it’s not cold outside, sit out there’. Very very strange. Other customers seemed as confused as I did, laughing...
