Awful experience at this restaurant. We were seated next to a very very very noisy group of young people, literally screaming from one end of the table to the other so we couldn't hear ourselves speak. I asked the waitress if she could ask them to keep the noise down a bit. The manager, Christo, came over and said these were foreigners (which he seemed to think explained why they were making so much noise) and they were just leaving (which they weren't). He then did precisely NOTHING.

After another 10 minutes we realised that our meal was going to be ruined, we literally couldn't hear ourselves speak so I asked to see the manager again. He said there was nothing he could do. He refused to ask the noisy guests (who hadn't left) to keep the noise down. It hadn't occurred to him to ask us if we wanted to move, another obvious solution. Another table had been seated on the other side of the group and they immediately asked to move. I asked for his name, several times, and he refused to tell me (how unprofessional?). Subsequently the waitress told me his name was Christo.

We gave up completely on the meal, asked for the bill, refused to pay the service charge and left. No apology given for our ruined night, the manager didn't speak to me again.

This restaurant is in the heart of the West End. I imagine the rent and rates are huge. Why on earth do they have such a weak manager who is petrified of speaking to a disruptive group? Surely managing is all about taking care of precisely this type of situation. Why was he too scared to give me his name? I noticed that there were young children running around the restaurant - at 8.30pm - playing chase in and out of the tables, and this was also tolerated because Christo obviously was too scared to speak to the parents.

Actually the food isn't bad at Masala Zone, but they seriously need to get some better...

The management are reluctant to respond to any complaints or even bother to reply. They try their best to portray Masala Zone as a Michelin starred restaurant when it is just a normal street eaterie. It needs to be avoided as there are plenty of better places in the vicinity. MASALA ZONE Soho is a complete RIP OFF!!! Only go there to waste your money. MASALA ZONE is a complete RIPOFF!! Still waiting for a response. Further to my earlier review, Masala Zone were quick to respond , requesting for more information and the receipt. I provided all the details straight away and they have completely ignored everything. Have not even bothered to acknowledge any thing. What a SHABBY way of treating their diners!! I recently went to Masala zone to celebrate my daughter's birthday, however it was a disappointing experience. The portions including the starters were horrendously small! The Punjabi samosa chaat was just a mini squashed samosa with a teaspoon of chutney and a teaspoon of yogurt which was hardly enough to even taste. All I tasted was 2 pieces of frozen potato in the samosa. The main dish of butter chicken came with only 5 pieces of chicken covered with sauce and the naan breads were tough and chewy all very pricy. The Hyderabad vegetable biryani had only half a slice of aubergine and half a boiled potato decorated with 3 rose petals. That is not a biryani ever worth having. The so called spiced guava juice was straight out of a carton with no hint of spice whatsoever. The lighting at the rear of the dining hall could be somewhat brighter. The toilets lacked toilet rolls and barely any liquid soap in the dispensers. It was certainly not worth the money...

Absolutely Terrifying Experience – AVIOD AT ALL COSTS!!

I rarely write reviews, but after my horrendous experience at Masala Zone Soho, I felt compelled to warn others. My family and I were visiting London and decided to dine at this so-called restaurant. We were excited about the experience, but what transpired was nothing short of a nightmare.

After finishing our meal, which was mediocre at best, we were absolutely horrified to see multiple RATS scurrying across the walls and floors of the restaurant. Yes, you read that right – RATS! I managed to capture this on video, which I’m sure the management is hoping to forget. This was beyond unacceptable, and quite frankly, I’ve never been so disgusted in my life.

When I flagged down the manager to express my shock and disgust, he was completely dismissive. There was no apology, no acknowledgment of the health hazards, no sense of urgency – just an attitude that seemed like "Oh well, deal with it." To make matters worse, they still had the audacity to bring us the bill to pay for the meal!

This kind of behavior is completely unacceptable. A restaurant is supposed to provide a safe, clean environment, and what we encountered was a disgrace. I wouldn’t trust this place to feed anyone, let alone my family. If you value your health, do NOT step foot in this place. The lack of accountability and basic customer care is astonishing.

I truly hope the owners take this seriously and do something about the state of their establishment. A public apology and refund are the very least they owe us. Until then, I strongly advise anyone considering this place to save themselves the trouble – and the risk – and...

Expensive, Mediocre, stale food and tiny portions. Average service. There are so many better options, Londoners! Avoid this place. Went here on a Friday night with recommendation from a colleague. First of all, they don't post menu online, which is very annoying because they don't have anything super secret or special! It is actually very limited menu. Look at the pictures I posted to see the details. Most likely because they're banking on first (and only) time customers. I ordered an appetizer and glass of wine first. Got 4 dahi puris for an order of 5.5 pounds! Average to below average dahi puri for that price is ridiculous. I also ordered a sprouted mung bhel, but mostly it was overly spiced drenched murmura (Rice crisps) in chutney, again tiny portion for the price. Hardly any sprouted mung. For the main course I ordered Undhiyu + Khichdi combo. This is a very complex dish from Gujarat, which takes hours to make but came in 10 mins. I was very skeptical, and ofcourse, it came in a bowl with one side totally cold. It was very clear that it was microwaved. One of the main ingredient (methi muthiya) was completely missing. Instead there were large pieces of potatoes and bananas in it. Yuck! The khichdi was described as Indian risotto, which is ridiculous and it was so dry that I couldn't even it more than 3 bites. Again, it was prepared far in advanced and microwaved. For 15 pounds you can get truckload of good Indian food. When there are so many amazing options for Indian food within few hundred yard, why would anyone go to this place? Beyond me. Only if you don't know the authenticity of this food. Anyway, for me...it is never again.

The food was all good. From the zero spice kid’s korma to the Gol Guppa Pops (never had them before - great!) to the spicy green curry and more. The only thing that didn’t fly was the kid’s fish sticks, more on that later. The non-alcoholic drinks were very good - thumbs up! The chapatti (a wheat bread) was tasty, the rice was cooked well, the cheese naan was very tasty. The kid’s Korma was tasty and non-spicy. The saffron curry chicken was very flavorful. My spicy green curry was tasty as can be, but the fish sticks were fish sticks. Now this really isn’t a problem, but my other child was not happy. Step in the on-site head of the front and the chef. Service is important in a business like this, and I’d like to call out some excellent service here. The fish sticks didn’t really fly with my kid. We had warned, and also tried cajoling, to get a curry order. This is not a chippie after all. Steadfast refusal from the younger. Then when the front of house (and chef) heard about the unhappiness they brought out a (small, as we requested) portion of the curry. We had originally said it wasn’t necessary, but they said it would be a small portion and wasn’t an issue. This above and beyond service should be recognized and appreciated, and we do. The (knowledgable) waiter did his job, he reported it up the chain that a customer was unhappy, and the staff stepped up to try and make even the youngest customer at the table happy. Thank you, again, we appreciate the courtesy of your establishment.
