MAC Cosmetics — Local services in London

Just literally left this specific Mac store that I traveled all the way from Lisbon in tears. The disrespect of this team is insane, specially the Sales Person who made me feel completely uncomfortable and sad.

I walked in super happy to get a few shades of the skinfinish bronzer for my kit and after what it felt like 5min a Sales Person (male with curly hair) came to me and asked me if i needed help which I replied politely that I was okay and thanked him.

Straight after that he asked me if I was a makeup artist. I said yes I am but I’m not wearing any makeup today and laughed. He replied back with : ah you look like one which i immediately said thank you so much. So far so good until what he said next which was: This is not a complement and every staff from the store started to laugh at me like I was a joke or something….

I cannot describe how this made me feel, I immediately left the store without knowing what to think of this.

All of them are bullies and I don’t understand how is this tolerated in this store and nowadays?

Didn’t we learn anything from Mental Health awareness? From Ethics? Idk

First time ever to write this kind of review anywhere…doesn’t feel good at...

Having little experience with using make up, I popped into the shop on a Sunday to take a peek at some products that I’ve come across seeing people use on the internet. One member of staff, Katrina, came to my support and was extremely helpful. Katrina was incredibly patient with my questions, she sat me down to swiftly but thoroughly go through the basics with me even though I hadn’t booked an appointment. She showed me how to use the products and explained what each of them were meant for, as well as common mistakes to look out for and how to approach the products in a way that was much less daunting (let’s be real, if you don’t know what you’re looking at, it can feel overwhelming!). My use of Google reviews are few and far in between, and I really wanted to make note of this experience as I really appreciated Katrina and how graceful she was with my experience today. My experience at this store was ‘bitter sweet’ - but only because of the poor leadership by the Manager - she was grumpy and rude to staff and it showed. Other customers noticed and were talking about it! The young lady that served me was phenomenal! The store was chaotic - the staff were clearly told to ‘stay in their zone’ - and the manager interrupted the same young lady (serving me at the till), without explanation “go back on the shop floor” - a guy took over and was good (although the ‘discount’ was not explained and only given on one purchase - he ‘forgot’ the second one). The Manager made this visit “bitter” - very rude to staff. Colleagues seemed scared to use their initiative! I will never visit this store again - (and I wouldn’t want to work for THAT Manager!) I’ll go back to Battersea Power Station store where I’m made to...
