Today we had organised to meet with family that were over from abroad as special occasion however I am really disappointed to write the following review on our experience on todays visit (we had visited in between Christmas & new year which is why we chose this location) . We arrived today and were seated at a 6 seater table for a table of 8, we had to pull another table across to make space for all attending after another booking had left. It took 24 minutes for the staff to give our table food menus, another 10 minutes before our drinks order was taken. Once drinks were ordered it took another 15 minutes for those to arrive. Dinner orders placed and the turn around for them to arrive didn’t take long however a number of the dishes ordered were cold. I personally had Shakshuka with poached eggs, the eggs were so over cooked they were rock hard and the whole layer of tomato sauce was almost crispy. I did go up to the manager to raise my concern with the overcooked eggs to be told they’re cooked like that, I asked for a replacement to be met with slight sarcasm about how the eggs need to be which made me feel uncomfortable so said to just forget the issue. We had water bought to the table but no water glasses, we also were left with all the menus on the table throughout the dinner service. We paid however took another 20 minutes before we left and the table still wasn’t cleared. On observation the restaurant seemed to have only 3 members of staff attended a busy Saturday service which didn’t work. I am so disappointed with the food and service received today. We came for a special occasion and left feeling deflated, I usually right up really positive reviews but today I’ve had to flag this experience because even though it’s been flagged to the on site manager there didn’t seem to be any really owner ship or positive outcome. It may have just been an off day but it’s really put the 8 of us off...
Read moreFood was good with a large variety but it is expensive especially the vegan/veggie options and for the portion you get. The lemon orzo bowl for example is £13 and on the smaller side.
The staff were very friendly and helpful but the overall service wasn’t great with us never having our table fully cleared of empty plates (half of the table was done but not the other half for 30 mins and then we left) and the bill had an incorrect item on it with me being overcharged for my meal which I had to point out to the manager on duty. We found the service in terms of waiting for drinks and such just to be a bit on the slower side also, but when we arrived it was not busy.
The drinks were a good price with it being happy hour, although the passion fruit tequila cocktail was quite tart and needed sugar syrup or passion fruit juice to balance the flavours.
The atmosphere was lovely but the seating was not very comfortable. We were initially squashed around too few tables with us requesting this get extended. This seemed like the restaurant was trying to fit as many people in, but it often meant that quite a few people had their backs to the table behind them or didn’t have enough space to eat comfortably.
Although I’d visit with one or two persons for breakfast maybe, the process of group bookings is excessive. Requiring people have a hold on their card for more than 6 people and only allowing a party menu for 12 or more people seems like missteps here. Only high end viral restaurants tend to place holds on cards, and this was a Tuesday night, so not peak hours at all.
The party menu is very limiting and the hold on a card would make me advise people not to boon Megan’s for a...
Read moreWe visited when Megan’s first opened in Twickenham and it was absolutely fantastic. I was so impressed I brought another friend there less than a week later. We were sat in the far end of the extremely beautiful garden out back. Unfortunately we had no service throughout our entire meal..after waiting 15 mins in order to order food/drinks/bill etc we had to get up from our table every single time to ask a member of staff to take our order/bring our bill. We were told when we placed a drinks order the reason it didn’t arrive was due to iPads not working and technical issues. One of beer bottles was taken away half full Also. In the end we did not wait for the bill and decided to pay at the coffee counter instead. The young staff waiting the garden seemed annoyed that we had done this and did not say goodbye despite us still saying Thankyou and goodbye even though the service was beyond poor. I also think management should take a moment to educate the staff on the dishes.. a waitress corrected us twice that the dish she was placing infront of us was lamb when it was infact chicken thigh on a skewer. We were also told Halloumi skewers we’re not available to add to a meal but I was able to have Halloumi added to my ‘posh doner’. This was a little confusing as we thought everything was made up fresh. There is also one ladies only toilet and it was a shame to see a man exit this and the toilet seat be left up.
It’s such a beautiful restaurant and the food is lovely, it’s a shame the service let it down but we will put this down to teething issues having only just opened and hope it improves...
