If I could give 0 stars I would but can only go as low as 1 star!
Totally and utterly disappointed by Metsuyan’s service and food this evening at the Golders Green branch. We arrived at 6.20pm (3 guests) on arrival we were asked if we had made a reservation – no – could you sit here – fine as we thought by the question they were obviously going to be busy and needed a quick turnaround – fair enough and didn’t think much more of it. We went for a 4-course meal for 2 adults plus 2 extra dishes to have enough for the 3 of us (one within the starter and the other in the main course).
We got our starters and then waited some time until the duck arrived, again a further wait for main course. Two dishes arrived, one of them stone cold, sent it back, the sweet and sour chicken was too hot in comparison that had to spit it out of mouth, the other meat dish arrived with the noodles and that was stone cold. Called over the manager and explained the situation to him and showed him how cold the meat was that was able to pick it up using my fingers. Further wait between mains and dessert.
Also, when we ordered drinks at the start mine came with its cap on, asked for it to be removed, then my husband got his but no glass so asked for a glass to which the waitress looked blankly.
When asking for the bill the manager told us that we were not going to be charged service, good job really as we were still in the restaurant 2 hours and 20 minutes later! Got the bill and even without the service it was not worth the money. A further deduction was taken off as during the time there one of the waiters said that they were under staffed in the kitchen – not surprised as was told from the onset that there was no sushi on the menu this evening – said to the waitress good job I didn’t fancy sushi otherwise I would have walked out – her reply others have. Had said to the manager that if you had problems in the kitchen then its not the customers fault – might have been worth closing for the evening if poor customer service was going to be provided. Amazingly take away service they were able to get out quicker then those in the restaurant.
Never again will we...
Read moreI've never had the nerve to send a dish back, but this place is just that bad. Here is a summary: 1.) The waitress had never heard of "Asahi", one of only two beers on their menu. 2.) The Japanese Tempura came with Chinese takeaway style Sweet and Sour Sauce. 3.) When we asked for soy sauce for the table, we were brought Dark soy sauce (for cooking, not dipping). 4.)The teriyaki chicken was pathetic. Sweeter than the sweet and sour sauce, and thickened up with corn flour no doubt. I sent it back and asked for plain chicken, I didn't trust them to do anything else. 5.) The sushi wasn't absolutely terrible, but out of 12 pieces we left 4. They just were not appetising to taste let alone look at. 6.) Most importantly as to why I give this a 1 star is the price. £7 for 6 rolls, and £15 for their mains. Our bill came to around £60 of utter disappointment.
Scrap 1/5, I'd give it 1/10 if I could. Go next door instead. Hell, go...
Read moreExtremely small amount of food in a dish that cost 15.99, I ordered the lamb from the main course menu, and 90% of the dish was fried onion but not meat..:( it looked more like a sample of the dish I ordered, definitely not what you would expect to get for 15.99...,
I asked the waiter if it looked like a main course size to her and how many grams of meat they usually give per plate, she said that they don't masseur the amount, and "they give what they think its enough..",
I'm not a type of a person that complains normally, but this really upset me, she wouldn't try to come with any solution for us but she said: "asain people eat a small amount, as you see they are tiny people, this is a normal plate for an asian cousin.."
As I had enough of her pearls of wisdom, I asked to talk to the owner who was there, but she said it wouldnt be possible this time. Bottom line - I would recommend anyone to save the money and to eat...
