We visited Sushimania Golders Green today, where I was forced to pay a service charge. I refused and refused but Wendy and her colleague did not let go. It was either I pay or walk out without paying the whole bill, which would have made me to look like I was breaking the law. It was my partner, my daughter and myself. We were 2.5people as my child is classed as half price.. My partner and child were witnesses to the conversation. The bill states “discretionary” and it wasn’t discretionary at all, but forcefully made to pay. When I mentioned the Whetstone, Finchley Sushimania didn’t charge the service charge Wendy rudely said “then go to the place where they don’t charge you a service charge” and she was ready for a fight. This is the first time any restaurant had charged a service charge for 2.5people. Don’t get me wrong I would have left a tip, but I don’t like anyone making up laws which do not exist. Secondly, I was focusing on the service charge I didn’t realise they had overcharged me for 2 extra drinks as well. I just noticed this as I was taking the below photograph. My husband ordered a green tea and my daughter a lemonade and I didn’t have anything as the coke I wanted they did not have. But we have been charged for two extra green teas as my daughter wanted a small tea cup to put her lemonade and I to check out the tea. Very dodgy staff. Absolute disgrace. I just called to get a credit for my overcharged drinks and the call wasnt picked up either. Surely they will but in all honesty if you had 3 pots of tea and a lemonade between 2.5people you wouldn’t be able to eat anything in the buffet. Now they would make excuses or say they charge for extra tea cups or something ridiculous. If they check their CCTV they would know what the truth is. But I guess you need honesty to own up. Be warned. If you go, check your bill before you pay. Shame on you Sushimania...

Us and and a group of friends went for a night out for some sushi and decided to go here and it was probably one of the worst decisions ever. We got there at exactly 7.30.. it took them 45mins to give us our 1st half of the order which wasn't brought out in full (we were given seaweed and edamame beans in between to keep us quiet and busy) second half arrives by 8.30ish 8.45 which is ridiculous! We ask the waitress whats going on and she apologises and tells us there's only ONE CHEF preparing food for a restaurant full of people which I totally understood, but why accept a big group of people when you know your not able to provide and decent service? Anyways we stayed quiet and patiently wait but by 9.30ish we still hadn't received a full second round and start to get frustrated. I decided to complain as we had lost our appetite at this point with so many LONG pauses and lots of seaweed.
The way the waitess/manager dealt with the situation was so unprofessional, she gave us a little discount (£63 something for lots and lots of seaweed and a few rolls of sushi, again RIDICULOUS i was unhappy paying that but still did so as a form of respect towards the staff when in fact by law if I'm unhappy with the service I've been given I'm not obliged to pay) Once she received the payment she tells us RUDELY don't come here again because you are banned?? I still don't get what we done wrong for us to get banned (to be honest it doesn't even matter because I wouldn't go there again myself) I'm not new to all you can eat sushi buffets, so I know how things work and usually you need to eat and finish within an hour and half/2 hours, at this place we got there at 7.30, left by 10.30ishh when we didn't even have a full second round and were left unsatisfied.
Thanks for ruining our night and...
Read moreOverall the experience was good, given 4 stars as they newly opened under new refurbishment and management i believe. We had a table book, and we were running a bit late, so we called and they hold the table for us. When we arrived only 2/3 more tables where there and we were seated and explained the different menus, one bottomless and one a la carte with 50% off, so both a good deal, however the bottomless menù had indicated that we needed to download an app to place the orders which wasn't correct, as they'll give you a QR CODE to scan and place your orders from, the website to order from was a bit messy, as you can only order every 15 mins, and only 6 dishes from the sushi page and 6 dishes from the hot page, when adding all those to our basket it kept telling us we hadn't ordered enough, even tho we did, and once the order was processed some of our dishes were automatically removed, so leaving us with less dishes each round, however told one of the waiter and they managed to bring us the right amout in the end. I love eating my sushi with a nice cup of Hot green Japanese tea, which unfortunately wasn't available at the time and it's kind of shocking, as they just reopended and one of the most popular drink in a japanese restaurant was out of stock. Also to mention it isn't ideal ti be seated at the table and keep heating the waiters and manager speaking in Japanese and having a full on loud conversation near the tables as this is quite annoying. For the price and quality you get i would say it was good enough, but overall for the rest i would...
