This evening I had a Burger and a pint with a colleague who had just attended an exam in London. I met him at Kings Cross and we headed over to St Pancras International for a bite to eat. We ended up visiting Mi + Me an extension of the Renaissance Hotel.
Obviously I can only comment on my own burger, so here goes.
Firstly the menu, it starts with a story..... I'm hungry, I Couldnt care less if I'm honest especially when I'm eating in an extension of a Marriott hotel kitchen, pretending to be something it isn't.
I ordered the Mighty Mi & Me burger and the gravy chips, despite the waiter somewhat aggressively suggesting spicy chips. Its nice to be offered a suggestion, but only a suggestion.
The burger was OK, , two burgers with bacon, cheese, the usual salad & Mi + Me sauce but it was only OK.
The chips however were a different matter, they had been shown the gravy, but very briefly. They had goats curd on top, which if you have never tried it, over powers anything including gravy.
So the goats curd, literally over powered the crinkle cut oven chips and the virtually non-existant watery packet gravy.
If someone is going to try calling those chips anything, it should be Goat curd, crinkle cut oven chips. Not gravy chips.
Price wise. Mi & Me is at best over priced for what you get a Burger in a brioche bun, with an ice cream tub of goats curd covered crinkle cut oven chips setting you back £16 add in a beer for £5 and its over £20 for an over priced "Unhappy meal" which comes with crinkle cut oven chips and in my opinion is priced to sting tourists, travelling to or from Europe, or those unwilling to go beyond the hotel walls at night.
The real sting in the tail is the 12.5‰ service charge which presumably covers the staff popping to Iceland for the chips or the low wages paid to the poor souls,...
Read moreThe menu looks okay but nothing really jumps out and screams EAT ME. The resturants seating is a peculiar outdoor feeling though it is inside the St Pancras hotel. I haven't been lucky enough to get a seat under one of the heater which warm most but not all tables and I quite happily sit in the cold (although it is inside a train station do not be mistaken it is London and it is as cold if not colder out in here than the outside). The drinks selection is okay though I've played it safe and dull with a beer; a beer I've spilt to which the waiter almost instinctively, zooming past, shouts out that he'll bring me a tissue. If he's words could dry my table I would grab them from the air and put them to good use. This is all they are good for. A second waiter comes and brings me my food a little later, he recognises my little spill and rushes off to get me 2 tissues, and realises I also have no cutlery. Finally someone who knows what he's doing! I eat slowly and undisturbed, some rather nice mini scotch eggs. Later my favourite waiter to the rescue again realises that I've finished and comes to take away my plate, I tell him I want another beer and ask if I can keep my cutlery to eat some more food. He asks if I would like to see the menu again. The beer atrrives at the hand of someone else and noone else is to be seen again waiting my table. The beer which was recomended by the waiter has saved this Mi+Me from 1 star and a...
Read moreI wanted to leave a review in regards to the disappointing service we encountered this evening when we booked to eat at your Mi and Me Restaurant. We have travelled from Leeds and booked in advanced and was expecting a good experience. The waiters (3 on this evening) stood around chatting in their first language. We had to ask repeatedly for drinks, water and the bill. It was clearly obvious that it appeared that we were putting them out. They then presented a bill for 12.5% service tip. I reluctantly paid it but on hindsight I should not have. The food was slightly cold and the buns hard. Probably one of our worse eating out experiences for a long...
