🚇 Dalston Junction 🍺 £5.50 Guinness
Molly Blooms is located on Kingsland Road in Dalston just south of the busy intersection with Balls Pond Road and Dalston Lane. The nearest station in Dalston Junction which is just across the road.
There has been a pub on this site since at least 1882. This pub started life as a Watney Combe Reid pub called The Brewery Tap.
Molly Blooms is an Independent Irish pub that opened its doors in 2014. This pub is named after Molly Bloom, a fictional character in the 1922 novel Ulysses by Irish novelist and poet James Joyce.
This is a long and narrow pub that is simple and traditional in decoration. The servery is a good size and is located on the left hand side. Around the walls are an eclectic mix of photos and prints from James Joyce to Angus Young from AC/DC. The seating consists of black benches around the perimeter of the bar, traditional tables and stools around the servery. This pub loves its sport and has several screens dotted around the bar.
The beer line up was full of familiar keg favourites that are popular with the locals. I decided on a pint of Guinness, my pint was excellent, price point was pleasantly less than six quid. This pub doesn’t serve food but step outside the door and there is every takeaway you can think of.
I arrived around 9pm, the pub was busy and in full swing. The atmosphere was great, there was a friendly buzz about the place. The punters are a good representation of oldschool Dalston locals and a few newcomers to the area. The backdrop was Spain v Northern Ireland on mute whilst singalong guilty pleasures played from the Jukebox.
Visiting @mollybloomsdalston was a fantastic proper oldschool Irish pub experience. The Guinness was on point, there was plenty of craic to be had with the locals and the atmosphere was friendly and upbeat. If you ever want to sample Dalston of old, then add this one to your “To Visit” list.
