Nando's Great Portland Street — Restaurant in London

Popped in for a quick lunch, I was not disappointed. The ambience at this Nandos is lovely, large dining space, and generally well maintained. I was seated at a table promptly, the host was very friendly, and explained how ordering works. I ordered at the counter this time, which was quick and easy, all the staff were extremely pleasant. Upon returning from ordering, a glass and cutlery had been placed ready and waiting for me, which was amazing, and beyond expectations, nice touch (thank you even if it may have been an accident). When the food arrived I was again pleased. The food was presented exactly how it should be, and delivered by a friendly staff member. They served appropriate size portions and the food was presented well, it was obvious the chef took pride in dishing up the food, and the items were not just chucked on the plate. Taste was on point, chicken was suitably chargrilled but still remained moist and juicy from inside and seasoned well, chips as they should be, sprinkled with peri salt! As expected, shortly into my meal they came and checked if I was ok, felt genuine, like the staff member really cared, this is very important, they asked in a way where it didn't just feel like a tick box exercise, so again well done. I feel this is an excellent value for money dining option, especially for casual dining. I also observed other staff members making other diners experience pleasant, they listened to customers requests and delivered and communicated professionally and efficiently. Went up to order additional food she told me sorry but we ran out and we are closing in 30 mins. Then I asked a colleague of hers and she told me it’s be cause we are closing in 20 mins and she told us to shut down the kitchen. I went to her and told her there is still 20 mins I want to order food. She starts raising her voice telling me don’t question my managerial skills. We do not have any food to serve now. So my kids decided to have soft served ice cream. They ordered she got them normal ice cream. I asked her why is not soft served. She said that this is what they ordered. Then I told her is the soft served ice cream working. She said yes, but you have to go order and pay again. Never going there again where customers are not appreciated and the lack of honesty from the manager. Two of her colleagues, I think an assistant manager and teller came to us to talk to us politely to calm us down after they saw what she did. Merve the manager was very rude… Change...

Went for our wedding anniversary meal on 27th March. Waited 45 minutes to be served. People who ordered there food after us had left by the time we got our food. They could clearly see we were waiting and ignored. It wasn't that busy either.

In the end I had to go up and remind them we were still waiting.

When food arrived what was meant to be creamy mash was dried up unpresentable potatoes not even mashed properly. Was offered another but it was the same. Server just shrugged her shoulders and walked off. Chicken was as dry as a bone and peri chips could not eat as they were smothered in peri powder.

Paid for drinks and they didn't have enough cloudy lemon to fill the glass!

All in all disappointed. Not even offered any compensation for having to wait. The worst Nandos ever visited. It was ashame as it was my partners first time there and has said they don't want to go again. Watford Nandos is so much better.
