Sunday October 13th 2013

After a watching my daughter play her first gig across the road from the Prince of Teck, my wife and i decided to treat her to a meal out. She fancied a fish and chips and so The Prince and Teck looked perfect. We sat down and were greeted to table service by a polite and welcoming waitress. My daughter and wife ordered a fish and chips whilst I went for a pie. When the food arrived It looked nice enough but when I started tasting my pie it was lukewarm in part and completely cold in others, one third of it was cheese and the mash inside was mixed with cream grain mustard and leeks which made it a liquid and very acidic mess. The accompanying veg were not cooked enough even if I do enjoy a crunchy veg. I complained to the waitress who said she would speak to the manager, my wife and daughter finished their food some 15 mns later but still no news from the manager. I asked for the bill and it was brought to us. I then saw a man walking behind the bar, I asked if he was the manager in charge and when he confirmed. I asked him to come over. I explained my food was cold and pretty disgusting and that it was a shame as the place was otherwise nice. He told me he would take the pie off the bill and proceeded to give me a patronising slap on the shoulder telling me irritated: "I know it could be better "my friend" I have issues in the kitchen at the moment". Now I have worked in catering for 10 years and I did not make a scene only I know this is the most unbecoming, unprofessional and appalling behaviour I have ever witnessed from a so called manager. There were 12 people in the pub at most, two waitresses a chef and the manager. He had no reason to be stressed for being busy that 's for sure. Maybe he was coming down with something or coming down from something but I know this was unacceptable. I hope this was a one off because what looks like a great pub with friendly waitress staff will be run...

🚇 Earls Court 🍺 £6.60 Asahi ❤️ A good spot for live sport. . The Prince of Teck is located on busy Earls Court Road, the nearest tube is Earls Court which is on the Piccadilly and District Lines. . This four storey pub was built in 1868 by prolific public house builders Thomas Huggett and Thomas Hussey. If you look towards the top of this boozer you will see four marvellous heraldic wyverns guarding the roof corners, gargoyles to you and me, impressive none the less. This pub’s unique name comes from German aristocracy, Prince Francis of Teck who in 1866 married Princess Mary Adelaide of Cambridge, popularly known as ‘Fat Mary’ on account of her girth. . The decor here is modern and functional. There are lots of poser tables at the front section of the bar and low level seating at the rear. There are a few screens showing live sport from premier league to NFL, the layout makes this pub a good spot to watch a game. Across the ceiling were national flags from all nations that added a splash of colour. The servery is cheerful, there are fairy lights, a neon sign and some copper vessels to complete the look. . The beer line up was good and included a couple of cask ales and a few craft brews. I opted for a pint of Asahi , decent enough pint, although a bit pricey. The food menu had an American feel to it with pizza and burger’s being the main staples. . I arrived around 1pm on a Saturday lunchtime and the pub was calm and relaxed. There were few other punters in, some of which were in to watch the Tottenham v Portsmouth FA cup match. The staff were friendly and the service was good. . The Prince of Teck is a modern pub with a good food and beer offering. The pub is a great spot for watching live sport or just hanging out. This pub didn’t blow me away but was solid enough. . ℹ️ Info correct on...

I was there in January with my aunt and cousin. The food itself was pretty bland, especially for the price. There was a broccoli and Stilton soup, which unforunately tasted of nothing at all. We also ordered drinks, and the man serving us did a couple of things that threw me off slightly. Firstly, he asked me if I wanted a double (in a tone I thought was weirdly cheeky) and then told us we'd have to come to the bar to collect our drinks. I went along with that, and went to collect them. They half-filled our drinks order and then wandered off to ask someone else what they wanted to drink, then 5 minutes later another server noticed me and filled the rest of the order. They then left us waiting for another 20 minutes, brought my aunt the wrong food, were rude to her when she asked for what she had ordered instead (she said just to remove the pie that was wrong and leave the veg to limit waste, he snapped and said he'd have to throw everything out). It turned out that they had served the last of the food she had ordered to someone else while we were waiting. It took the server another 20 minutes to come tell us that. The service...

Not bad. The food saved it. The place has self-seating, and if there was supposed to be table service, I didn't see it. I waited at my table for someone to show up and take my order. After 15 minutes I walked up to the bar and asked what I supposed to do. The woman behind the bar asked me if I wanted to order. I said yes. She asked what table I was at (clearly she wasn't watching the tables, even though she was the only one carrying food to the tables and had passed me multiple times) and I returned to my table. The food came out about 20 minutes after I ordered it (around 4pm). It was extremely hot, and quite good. I had to again go up to the bar and track down someone in order to pay my bill. They do not approach the tables, at all. Pro tip: sit upstairs in their "dining room", not downstairs like I did. There is no seat downstairs that isn't within 3-5 meters of their several doors, and Londoners like to stand LITERALLY right outside the doors and smoke. So, not only will you get a constant stream of cold air wafting on you if you sit downstairs, but you'll also get plenty of cigarette smoke too. Upstairs, it should be better.

I stayed in Earl's Court for 5 days during my recent trip to London. On my commute, I passed by this pub twice daily, but never stopped to visit. On my last day, I needed a place to kill a few hours before my flight, so I finally popped in... and my only regret was that I didn't stop by sooner. The Prince of Teck was hands down the best pub I experienced in London. The food and drink were top-notch and the service was first-rate. Definitely made me wish I could move my flight 24 hours so I could spend more time in this spot. Avoid my mistake, and don't hesitate to stop in and spend some time here. Shout out to Chris for being the best host and bartender I had the pleasure of encountering on my trip. Thanks for providing an incredible bookend to my week in London!
