I've lived in this area for 20 years and this particular shop has changed 3 times, always into a different pizza spot. This one however sells Neapolitan pizza and a pretty normal one at that. Nothing to write home about but does the job.
I ordered their pepperoni and it came to £14.95, for this area it's over priced but we move on. I finished my meal, the meat was your average sliced pepperoni you find in every pizza shop. I also got a coke with it.
I go to pay and I'm being charged £3.50 for a can of coke. £3.50. The very next store next to it sells drinks for £1 each. The corner shops sell them for 80p and here I am paying £3.50.
I mention it to the owner and he scoffs "This is too much for you?" That was the line he crossed.
This place has been open for maybe under a year and I walk past it every single day. It is empty. Every.Single.Day. It is empty, anyone who eats here is from the employees families.
Save your money. £3.50 for a can of coke, he thinks it's Mayfair.
I will call it now, this shop will be sold by the...
Read moreIt only loses a star for atmosphere because this is not really a restaurant, but mainly about the take away trade. It only has about 4 places to sit and 2 of those are outside. There is one "big" table for 4 and some window seats, plus a couple of cute tables for 2 just off the pavement, if the weather is good. Inside is a pizza oven, lots of cardboard boxes and a guy who makes amazing pizzas. I've eaten quite a lot of pizza in my time and this is what pizzas made by Italians taste like. 4 of us sat at the big table and ate a capricciosa, a bufala and 2 diavolos, plus a bowl of those olives and a bottle of water. Definitely worth a stop, probably worth a detour and maybe even worth a trip in it's own right, if you're on tour. If I lived in NW8 this would be my go to...
Read moreI am big fan of Neapolitan style pizza and Nuovo Gusto never disappoints on that front. I got a Buffala pizza again today but I ate it so quickly, because it was delicious!, that I didn’t even take a photo so I have to post an old one. The staff is also super friendly and the prices are very reasonable for what you are getting. The dough is really tasty on its own and so is the mozzarella. I also suspect their pomodoro sauce is made from a proper volcanic soil tomatoes because it tastes just like the sauce they are using in Naples. Will be back for more! A little pro tip - try their arancini or tiramisu and you won’t be disappointed....
